The thing that makes me think the Colts will not take Nelson, even if available, is Chris Ballard's saying they are looking to get elite difference makers that can change a game.
As important as the OL is, there isn't a guy on the OL that can change a game like a player that can make an amazing catch, cause a sack fumble, or return a pick to the house for a pick six. The diffference makers / game changer comments are straight from the horse's mouth. Based on that, Nelson doesn't fit the description. Of course, one cannot entirely dismiss the possibility of smoke screens, but an OT/OG/C are big play game changers, generally speaking.
I do not want Fitzpatrick at all. He is basically in the same mold as Hooker, so he wouldn't be a safety for us. I don't think he would survive at corner either, so out of the top 8 players, excluding QBs, Fitzpatrick is the player I'd least want.
I'm not happy with any trade unless we get at least a 2019 1st rounder. Period. I like the possible picks we can get at #6 this year. Ballard is the driver of this bus, though, and I'll back any player he picks, but I'll be disappointed if either Chubb or Nelson are there and he trades back.
If Mayfield goes number one I think theres a better chance that there is a trade up and Indy gets who's left of Chubb/Barkley. I had talked myself out of getting either of those guys but Mayfield #1 overall could help. AZ/BUF would IMO, be more likely to get to 4 or 5 and get their QB.
