I've never seen linemen smiling and chatting during the game

Recommended Posts

Did anybody else see that?

During a timeout..I think it was Reitz...talking to the Jax lineman and they were all smiling

..and chatting....talking about the weather or the cheerleaders or something..

I dont have a comment..I've just never seen that during a game

it was like old home week..

Glad you brought this up mark. I was thinking the same last night. The team a lot of times seemed to be having FUN. I love it!!!

Oh you mean chatting WITH the Jags? Hmmm......not sure I noticed this as much. I was thinking more the Colts in general having fun.

Gabbert didn't look too happy. ;) And at times I think Luck looked like he needed a good nights sleep.

My favorite part was when Luck pushed the lineman back that were coming to protect him when he got hit on the slide.

Also I think it was the center on the TV that was talking.

You're right, too J....

Reggie was having a good old time out there...and even when the Jax guy cheap-shotted Andrew in the 4th quarter...he came over to shake his hand later..

It was a 'sweet' game :shake:

Jacksonville defender that hit Luck when going out of bounds: "Hey man, sorry about that. We cool dawg?"

Luck: "Hit me harder next time,*****."

Seemed like a very cordial game between the lineman.

I half expected them at halftime to sit in the middle of the field and break out some Coors Light and have a BBQ.

It was a cordial game, mainly because it wasn't as much of a game-- it was a "scrimmage." At least that's what it looked like since the Jags didn't put up much of a fight.

Some like it, some don't. I remember watching one of the NFL Top Tens they have on NFL Network and I think it was Top Ten Things We Miss and one of them was bitter rivalries. The argument some made was that in today's game, the guys are opponents, but always friends. You see them chatting during timeouts and they are friends off the field. In the older days, the guys were opponents on the field, but still didn't like each other off the field.

But then comes the issue of being too friendly. I remember a few years ago, the Eagles had a playoff game and they lost. After the game, the Eagles' players were jumping around and laughing and joking around with the opposing team's players (I forget who it was). Some people really didn't like it because it looked like the Eagles didn't care that they had lost.

    •   I have a feeling the Colts will struggle to sell out next year. Protests, concussions, off the field issues, and team relocations are turning people off from the NFL.   I’m jaded right now, and only watching the Colts games. I make sure none of the TVs in my house are on a channel of any NFL Game or NFL show. I used to watch the NFL Network religiously, but now I make sure it’s never on my TV, and I am thinking about dropping the channel. I would never miss the RedZone, but haven’t even turned it on in 3 weeks.   I am not breaking my perfect streak of watching Indianapolis Colts games, but the NFL isn’t going to see another dime from me, and I don’t care about any other games.
    •   Remember there are offensive and defensive ROTY  awards. Malik Hooker still could have been a candidate, whether Kareem Hunt literally runs away with the offensive one.
    • It shows he can play and lets him get that hurdle out of the way and avoid a year longs rust from building up.     I also don’t think it’s the mentality of a punch drunk boxer, it’s a competitor who wants to play and help his teammates.  Now should the coaches let him play?  That’s a different story.     There is going to come a time when Luck is completely healthy and sitting him isn’t going to get him anymore healthy and playing him isn’t going to make him anymore exposed to an injury than anyother player is.  I get the impression from what Ballard has said about Luck they aren’t going to even entertain playing him until he reaches that point. So I think if does comeback it’s because he is healthy and sitting him isn’t going to help him anymore and they will want to knock the rust off, see what he has, give the fans hope for the future (yes that’s a factor), Show potential free agents he’s healthy, and let him get over the mental hurdle any athlete has after coming back from a major injury that he can still play and be alright.  Some of those matter a whole lot more than others but they are all reasons for him to play regardless of the record if he’s healthy.
    • If he is learning anything from being a lame human statute it is, "Never play  against Sacksonville again." Only a guy like Russell Wison is  going to avoid what just happened to Brissett 10 times.
    • He was shell shocked and banged up I think he should have been yanked.  He wasn’t learning anything standing back there while the Jags were teeing off.
