Why SHOULD we beat the patriots? We match up horribly against them. Here's to hoping we pull an upset. But don't be upset if we lose..easily..
Everybody should be back healthy...their secondary suck and lastly we should because I hate them..but thats not the point..all I'm saying is the #1 spot is still within reach..

I'm all about being optimistic but lets not go full-homer here. The Patriots offense is going to get theirs but its going to take a complete 4 quarters from our offense to hang with them, which is something they have yet to do. I would easily rank NE as one of the hardest places to play and win at, especially this time of year.

Lets just hope we get some of the guys back on D as well.

I am not sure it will happen but I hope it does happen. Hey even if we lose the division but ended up getting into the playoffs that is still a major major victory for this season. Regardless this is shaping up tb be a much stronger division then expected initially and maybe Indy/Houston can develop a rivalry for the next several years a la Ravens/Steelers.

But, since 2002 (and I always sound like a broken record) a team HAS gone from LAST TO FIRST in one offseason. The best hope right now looks like the Colts to continue this trend. It used to be the Vikings but they have two teams instead of one who are probably standing in their way for it to happen now.

I truly hope nobody here gets that upset if we lose in NE. Thats a tough game for any team.

I actually think the Colts have a decent shot of winning the Patriot game. The reason being is they aren't build like the kind of team that gives the Colts fits (Jets). The Jets physically ran over the Colts and play good coverage. New England is a passing team that are not very good in the secondary. So I would expect this to come down to the last 2 minutes as to who wins.

Everything about the Patriots vs Colts game says we could and should get ran out of the building, a Phantom o line, bad Corner play (up till tonight), a rookie QB, That Brady guy, that Bellichick guy, a huge emotional let down, I can think of all kinds of reasons both in the x's and o's department as well as off the field issues as to why we wont win, I expect this will be a huge test to see what this team is made of this season, at the end of the day however the Patriots put there helmets on just like everyone else and they can be beat, we just have to find a way to keep scratching and clawing and hitting Brady time after time after time.........Dont underestimate a group of desperate men, which is exactly how we will have to play

Look on the bright side. We are the AFC team in the playoff picture right now playing with house money. Of course we are increasingly gaining momentum and people are noticing us. But, the Pats/Texans/Broncos/Steelers/Ravens had much much higher expectations then us heading into the season.

Some had us as the first pick in the draft again!

One game at a time!!! The ride is the best part!

I can't wait for the Bears/Texans game. Two good teams that are on a roll. Should be an exciting game. I know I shouldn't be, but I am pulling for the Texans in that game. I like their team and coaches. Their organization has done a heck of a job down there.

If we are to beat the Pats in NE, we will have to play cleaner and sharper than we have yet this season. The offensive assault that Bellichick and Co are going to throw at us is going to be fierce and unrelenting. If our D can get our CBs and Mathis back we might be able to slow them down a bit. It could still get ugly.

We have been flatout working harder than any team we have faced recently. That alone has put us in a good position to win. It's hard to outwork the Pats. We will have to do that and produce a bit of good fortune to scrape out a win.

I am rooting for DA BEARZ. But, I don't mind the Texans either as a team or organization. Sigh. They are the most likable of the 3 division rivals to me.

Wow. I've seen the colts overcome seemingly undoable things. Nothing is impossible. If Coach Pagano can beat cancer, we can beat the patriots.

If the offense doesn't shoot itself in the foot on the first two drives this isn't even a discussion. The offense could have easily helped the defense out that game, but instead hung the defense out to dry especially when the defense was already hurting injury-wise. No doubt the defense got punched in the mouth that game, but the offense was equally to blame with the horrendous effort they put forth.

Miami isn't that different than the Jets in terms of play style and the Colts went toe to toe with them however the offense showed up that game and that helped the D trenendously.

We had them beat last year in NE! Painter missed a wide open Garcon for a TD that would have won it. In retrospect, I'm glad he did. :)

When we play our game, I don't see us getting ran out of the building by anyone! I'm not giving the Patriots any sort of automatic win. I expect us to win that game. Hopefully we can put the Boss(Chapman) in the mix this week, and If we have all of our available DBs, along with Freeney and Mathis I don't see how we match up terribly with the Patriots personnel on offense. The main mismatch is with the Tight Ends. Offensively I think we can give them a run for their money as long as the game is not too big for Andrew to the point where he starts forcing himself to make a play. I get concerned at times when he starts forcing throws.

The only other issue I see is the fact that this is the first team we have faced that is able to run the ball and pass the ball pretty well. I'm interested to see how we will respond to that.

You mean Orlovsky? Painter was pulled before the NE game. And didnt we lose by double digits and were down by a fair amount majority of the game before a late push in the 4th quarter?

We have a good shot vs NE.

We have a CB, coming off a great game that played for the Patriots for 2 years. He is inevitably going to know Brady good, and Vontae Davis, played for Miami, played the pats 2x a year and they always gave them a good run for their money.

On top of all of that. We have an additional 3 days to prepare for this game.

This could be the perfect storm for us. At this point I think we have a 40% chance to win this game, good numbers IMHO.

Colts have a shot to beat NE, but have got to improve 3rd down conversions in a HUGE way for a win to happen! I hate the Pats and would love to see a big upset....maybe the Pats will feel over confident and have that work against them...maybe? This will be a heart attack game.

12 v.s. 12, with playoff ramifications at stake...who would have expected this? This has been an interesting NFL season, that's for sure. Landscapes are changing, we won't be seeing as many Patriots and Steelers SBs this decade. I hope...

I love the changing landscape... Texans, Falcons, 49ers, Bears.. it's nice not to actually not hate a team that could contend for SB :goodluck:

You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day. Enough said! In the coming years though you will grow to hate us, it's going to be, like another poster said, a Ravens/Steelers type of rivalry soon. Can't wait. :yay:

That will be fun...my Katie, TX family will be all pumped up about the Texans and then I'll have to mail them Colts stickers and stuff :neener:

See, that's just uncalled for. Stickers and memorabalia from a hated rival! Not fair at all, don't be surprised if they disown you. :funny:haha Just be glad they're not Cowboys fans though..there's still too many down here for my liking.

When I moved out to Houston from Atlanta 3 years ago I was surprised at how many people in Houston hate the Cowboys. I thought it would be more even keeled. I won't say they absolutely hate them, but there's a good number who don't like the Cowboys.

From one hot city to the next, man! You must like the humidity, huh? Lol but yeah, I am one of the ones that actually hate the Cowboys. After Houston lost the Oilers most Houstonians didn't even root for a team, despite Dallas being just up north...I would say the hate down here rivals that of the Redskins and Eagles of the Cowboys, and that's saying a lot lol.

Yeah it didn't take me long to notice that when I got out here. My wife is an original Houstonian. I've gotten used to it out here for the most part, but I don't tell my wife that! Whenever she annoys me I tell her I hate Texas, but to tell you the truth it's not that bad. The food out here is tremendous, and it's a very affordable place to live. I love being around all the types of different people Texas has. It will surprise you how diverse it is, if you are an outsider you would think there's nothing but Mexicans here but there's some of everybody and every race.

Yep, see! Sounds like you're coming around. ;) Come to the Red side of the Force, you know you want to. haha I don't know why so many think we are Mexico Central, but then again, this is a very diverse state, I love it down here and the only other state that I wouldn't mind living in would be Florida. Pretty good there too, they have a lot more to see than we do as well, but Texas is still manageable haha. Not exactly a place for tourists but a great place to settle down.

Yeah it's a good place to settle down and chill out. It's so laid back(almost too laid back at times) it's kind of a ho hum pace. You can see why because the heat forces you to slow your roll!

Oh yeah, we have no option but to be laid back down here lol. We, sir, have officially hijacked this thread. I have no idea how to get back OT from here though hahaha.

    • Funny you brought this up.  I just listened to an interview Ballard did today with Rich Eisen.  He asked him if he has given any thought on how many quarterbacks will be taken before our pick and how many does he think.  He said sure we go through those evaluations.  It helps us with for planning purposes.  He asked him how many.  4 or 5 or 6?   He laughed out loud at 6.  He said Rich if it’s 6 we will be so excited.  Let’s hope so.  He also said the draft board is not yet set.  Won’t be until the night before the draft.  He also said he has had multiple conversations with other GM’s concerning the draft.  Preparing themselves for opportunities that could take place.  And they will continue up until the draft starts.  He said trade conversations won’t really materialize until you are within three picks of any trade.  Giving you time to finalize it.  Interesting interview.  Oh he pretty much ruled out moving up for Harrison.   Going up into the top of the draft would be very costly for him he said.  Thinks he’s a great talent but he thinks he’s pretty much out of our reach.
    • I personally wouldn’t touch Williams with a 10 foot pole. He seems like a distraction and cancerous. He may be Uber talented but I don’t feel like he is a winner, and don’t feel like his heart is in it. I think he gets the bag and just sets it on cruise control. There is absolutely nothing to base this off of aside from my gut feeling.  Maye Daniels  Penix Nix McCarthy   Maye is your prototype passer and I think his deficiencies are easily fixed with good coaching.   Daniels seems the most limited to me, proficient and will be very dependent on where he goes.    Will always have a soft spot for Penix, he throws such a pretty deep ball. His 40 time should have opened some eyes.   Nix is probably the safest pick IMO. I think he’s got the tools to fit nearly any offense. Has the athleticism, arm talent and I think he’s got the between the ears to excel in most offenses.   I see the appeal with McCarthy, he was as unselfish as they come allowing the run game to shine instead of checking to pass plays. I think his ceiling is a solid game manager.
    • I'd imagine he's going bald. Most men his age usually are when they start sporting the caps 24/7.
    • Did I say something dumb? Maybe give reasons why one should trust and agree with Ballard's team building philosophy going into his 8th season. He's been pretty average to, dare I say it, below average so far into his tenure.
