Yes, Robin that's an excellent point, shouldn't a tattoo be hidden from public view and only those with "special" security clearance ;) actually get to see it?

Like a pirate's ancient map to buried "treasure." Now, that's some high quality loot and booty worth fighting for right? haha

I still have a secret security clearance but my wife said it doesnt matter :(

The other thing I fail to grasp is why some people chose to tattoo an entire an entire area like a back or an arm where you really can't hide it. At least, not in the Spring & Summer time anyway. Not everyone works in a profession "entertainment specialist" related where such art is deemed acceptable.

2 more club dance numbers that I always pictured "entertainment specialists" using myself...

The only time a tattoo is justified IMO is in the military surviving basic training, special forces training, tours of duty together, or skills accomplished and achieved unique to a specific battalion, company, or unit.

My Dad passed away when I was 4, and I have his initials and birthday, in his favorite color, on my upper right arm.

High enough where even in a T-shirt you can't see it.

I know you weren't critisizing all tattoos, but some have more meaning then others :)

Some just think it looks cool, but I wouldn't think of getting something if there was no real meaning to it. I couldn't imagine getting a tattoo like the guy who tattooed 0-16 on his arm in honor of the winless Lion team lmao.
In another moment, down went Alice after it, never once considering how in the world she was to get out again.

I've not long lost my mum, but I don't need to fire it all over my skin. My heart has all the love I'll ever need. No knock on those who do though..we are all different.

Many, like myself, were very very young when they lost a parent. I know me personally I have next to no memories of my father. So I wanted something that would remind me of him every day.

That's why I got mine at least lol.

Like you say though, to each his own.

House,

I agree 100%. Tattoos have to have personal significance as you so eloquently stated my friend. So sorry to hear that you lost your father at such a young age. Your remembrance of your father seems like an honorable and fitting tribute to him. I meant no disrespect House. Cops and firefighters get tattoos a lot to commemorate generations of family members in the same profession too or members in the same guild or trades union too. I have no problem with a tattoo in all the examples discussed here at all. You seem pretty cool and laid back to me House.

I wouldn't do tabs or patches. I do have the names and dates of our KIAs on my arm though.

That blue looks fantastic lol. Has it faded at all or has it stayed that vivid?

It has actually darkened slightly, but still looks great. Got it 2 years ago.

I can't upload photos from my phone for some reason, but my tattoo was a little darker blue than that when I got it, but it is very dark now lol.

How long did that take?

Unless you wear cut off sleeves all the time, not many people are going to see it on a bicep. Hence, getting it on my forearm.

Graffiti artist did it, he made it look that way on purpose, but he probably dresses like a homeless guy on purpose too.
