Hey all, been awhile since I’ve posted.. haven’t kept up with this thread as much as I’d like, but I have an interesting theory I haven’t seen mentioned..
Teams begin planning for the draft at least a year in advance, and often begin scouting players 2-3 years before they even hit the draft.. This means Ballard and Reich surely have had conversations about who they would like in this upcoming QB class..
I think the Panthers jumped the Colts because Reich and Ballard were in agreement on who the best QB was in this draft.. Not that it’s a “revenge move” by Reich; but if he knew they’d be targeting the same guy, it would make sense.
And to add another twist to this, maybe it’s not one of the top 4 guys often mentioned, which is why the Panthers felt the need to be so aggressive..
