  1. As long as Steichen intends to keep calling run plays for him, why would anyone be optimistic? A concussion and a season-ending shoulder injury in less than a third of a rookie season and you are optimistic it won’t happen again?
  2. If the money is right this would be a good move. The Steichen offense requires a qb to take hits on designed run plays — and obviously AR hasn’t shown that he can survive such hits. And of course the great players all play hurt. Will AR be willing to do that?
  3. Makes sense until AR performs another called qb sweep and gets planted back on IR for the year. Hopefully they have a decent second stringer in mind.
  4. AR improving is less of a concern than AR being available. Unless Steichen decides to change his offense we’d better find another decent backup qb.
  5. Looks like All Chips In is ok with 9-8.
  6. 13 pages of Colts’ news re free agents. Did we get a new GM today?
  7. After the guy had barely returned from the concussion, yeah reckless and stupid. I know it’s way too early for some people to criticize a new coach but this team needs a healthy qb to play upwards of 20 games each year. Do you think running qb sweeps in the middle of the field is likely to further that outcome? Recent history says otherwise.
  8. No it couldn’t have happened to virtually any qb unless the qb missed a handoff. Calling a qb run play nowhere close to the goal line with no option to pass or pitch the ball was stupid, especially since AR was only a couple games removed from a prior KO. If AR can only excel by running such reckless plays, the Colts better be planning for another short qb career.
  9. A key part of being a successful coach is play calling that includes protecting your most important player. AR’s season ended on a dumb call, especially since AR had already shown in his first couple games that he was anything but indestructible. Is Shane a good coach? No doubt he seems to be, but let’s see how he handles play calling this year. 9-8 will probably be our ceiling again unless AR plays most games. With the offense we saw for AR, I wouldn’t bet a dime that he will escape another season ending injury.
  10. Hopefully the huge gamble of drafting a guy so high with so little experience will pay off but until he proves his worth on the field these kind of threads will continue.
  11. About a quarter of the voters said 0 games, huh? Only on a fanboys board. Given Steichen’s offense and picking a big target to run it, there is no way AR doesn’t miss time. Hopefully Steichen figures out a way to eliminate unnecessary hits by adjusting his offense or else both guys’ careers will be short.
  12. And the coach will also go. Remember why this qb made the most sense: Steichen’s offense. I hope I’m wrong but AR only looks like he could run over a lot of linebackers. So far, it appears he can’t and survive to play. (Didn’t the Colts learn anything from Luck's much too short career?) Hopefully AR can use his obvious talent to become a great pocket passer who can run if needed. But that probably was never the plan when he was drafted.
  13. Nine minutes of highlights. That should include almost every play. He’s a big target just like Luck and it took Andrew a couple seasons to figure out that taking punishment was a bad long term career move. Hopefully AR and Steichen will figure the same thing out before Fall.
  14. The best I can say for Jim is he seems like a much more likable person than Mayflower Bob. Hopefully, for the sake of his family he will get himself clean but frankly I could care less. He inherited a multi-billion dollar business that can’t fail yet can’t resist living like a bum.
  15. Yep, as the NFL has expanded the season to about 20 games (including playoffs) I doubt AR will finish any season unless he and his coach severely limit the running game even though it may be what makes him special. He's a big guy but that also makes him a big target, much like Luck — and we know how that worked out.
