Andrew Luck obviously threw the ball well..and didnt really miss anyone (we dropped a few)

he throws a soft ball..easy to catch...

..and both backup QBs threw the ball well...

Our receivers ran good routes even if they didnt make every catch.



Without a big time pass attack....we cant win games...where we play and against who we play

This was the best thing i saw....


.....seriously, we didnt score 38 points in TWO games last season...

I honestly believe that the Colts would have won 9 or 10 games last year with Luck instead of Collins/Painter/Orlovsky. They lost alot of close games with poor QB play.

He is very calm...(probabaly because his dad played inthe NFL..he expceted to be here since he was a kid)

.and he can run aay from rushers.....


If we can protect him (a big if) ..we'll score a lot of points...and we wont be the embarassment we were last year

Yeah, neither did I. Stanford ran that offense because that's where their strength was (ie top notch RBs and TEs, mediocre WRs). Luck is good enough that the passing game can be opened up. Today's game is evidence enough of that, I think.

Those offensive formations sure look weird to me. They just seem so jumbled. It's nice that Arians likes to mix things up. I liked what Sorgi said about how Pittsburgh would bring out 3 TE sets at the end of games and just keep pounding the rock.....definitely beats the 3 Wide set we'd try to run out of to close out games.

Tackling was the biggest plus. Andrew L is a given. Tackling and ST's has been this teams Achilles heal in the past.

Tackling was MUCH improved.

.........on the play where he was looking to get sacked from his right but turned and ran left and threw it away...I think Peyton would have lost that battle....having the mobility and knowing how to use it is going to be a great asset..

For those of you keeping score at home (and if you are, good for you! ) know this....

The Colts had 30 passes. They also ran the ball 32 times. We threw plenty of short and medium passes. I realize a fair amount of that is building a big lead and then sitting on it and running out the clock. But we made them respect the run.

The offense you saw today, didn't look that much different than what Stanford runs. But the receivers here are MUCH better than what Stanford has, and that allows Luck to do much more than he could in college.

But there are certain principles at work here.... high percentage passes... mostly 3 and 5 step pass drops. Keep the chains moving. Pound the defense and at least make them respect the run.

It's a winning formula. By the way, I thought Arians called a heckuva game today. Other than Luck, he's likely the best off-season move we made!! Really. Seriously. The Colts' gain is Pittsburgh's big loss.

And Andrew Luck had a little no huddle offense going in one of them drives. He has total command of the offense. He is ahead of the game when it comes to all the other rookies heck some of the 2nd and 3rd year players too

We KILLED the Secondary out of the Shotgun. Like that Spread Offense was looking Beautiful Today. Hope we do the same against the Steelers. Cause they don't have a Defense if you take their LB's off the Field or make them Play Man

I agree about Arians...it's crazy how much the Steelers fans turned against him though. The ones I've been hearing from basically scapegoated Arians for all their issues and think Big Ben, Wallace, and co. were Pro Bowlers and won 2 Super Bowls despite him, not because of him. I get the feeling they're going to be in for a rude awakening this year when the offense underperforms and they see Arians wasn't the problem.

Personally, I think Luck, because of his mobility, might take a few more sacks than Peyton but might throw fewer INTs, IMO.

I think he may also get more leeway than Peyton did in his year 1 towards the end of year 1.

i Told a few friends to expect to see Luck be EXTREMELY accurate with his ball placement... rewatch the game and tell me how many of his passes were batted down by a DB. i can see he will be rolling out of the pocket a lot unless our O-line figures it out. I really think we can reach 6-7 wins. and i have not stopped thinking about just how calm Luck looked out there. i really liked all 3 qbs.

I know people are sayng it's the Preseason and it was the Rams... but it was more than the score.. it was against an NFL defense. For basically 2 rookie Qbs to come out and look like they have been there before was the part that should be looked at.

I know there can be alot to be said about our O line but lets give these guys the rest of the pre season games and maybe our first 3 or so reg season games and see how they adjust and look after that before we start critisizing them too hard. As has already been said, there are three new members up front and the rams do have a pretty good front four and they were overloading and bringing a lot of diffferent looks but the colts did seem to adjust and do ok for a while. They are still building chemisrty and getting thier communication down and learning how eachother works. Plus they are not the most talented group obviuosly but if they have some time and they work hard they will improve and I think become a decent O line. Lets just give them a little time befer we start saying harsh things.
