he's familiar with the Denver area having played for the Broncos before - which will help Peyton !!
he's familiar with the system Peyton wants to run - which will give Peyton a "go-to guy" !!
he's familiar with the system Peyton wants to run - which will give Peyton a second person to help teach the young wideouts that system !!

instant slot receiver I bet
Yep, and if coverage breaks down, he knows to go deep as well like vs the Saints on that TD pass from Hasselback in the Seahawks vs Saints playoff game.

Who will have the best season statistically as a Broncos WR? Stokley since he has the chemistry? Thomas? Decker has been working out with Peyton the most
I would have to lean Decker, then Tamme and Stokely, and then Thomas.

That was my ringtone for the longest time. It'll be nice to see Stokley and Manning reconnect.
I don't procrastinate, I just like to do things later.

I was thinking Decker too. But I don't know about Thomas last. I don't know much about him, but he was a first round pick (albeit under Josh McDaniels). Has he turned into a bust?I would have to lean Decker, then Tamme and Stokely, and then Thomas.

I had read recently that Thomas was considered a bit of a reach as a first rounder. Special physical skills but some issues. I would be willing to bet that Peyton will bring out the best in him. He may well lead the team. Don't forget that they also signed Andre Caldwell. Stokely may just be there for insurance.I was thinking Decker too. But I don't know about Thomas last. I agree with you, great acq.I dont think he will have any problem making the roster, but your right to question his durability.I cant remember how old he is,gotta be mid 30s.Good pick up & nice front office acquisition. A nice security blanket for #18. I have no idea how durable Stokley is, but he's always been a good WR in the NFL.

I think that's accurate about Thomas. I personally like Decker more. There's no denying that Thomas is physically gifted; he's got the measurables.
I liked Decker from his junior year at Minnesota. I remember seeing him dominate in a game against Cal; he even threw a touchdown. He probably would have been a first rounder had he not been hurt. Technically sound, tough, what you would call a 5-tool prospect in baseball (which he also played, and was drafted by the Twins).
I don't make too much of the Stokley signing. Assuming everyone is healthy, he'll probably not play too big a role on the field.

He's big and fast. But he has never produced at a level that suggests that he could be a #1 receiver, even in college. I thought he was a reach at the time, and others did as well. They could have gotten him with their second 1st rounder at least, but they wanted Tebow. And it was a really thin draft for receivrs. But he can be weapon unlike any other Manning has ever had. Marvin was faster, Garcon might be faster, but Thomas has the combination of size and speed that no Colts receiver ever had.

I don't know much about Decker - sounds encouraging - but the fact that he's been right there since even before Peyton signed - eager to get going with him - speaks volumes. That alone suggests that he may become the "favorite" receiver because Peyton is likely to trust him to be where he is supposed to be.

He was projected to go in the last 1st round and he did. Not a reach at all.

I thought he was projected to go in the 2nd, maybe late 1st round. Not before Dez Bryant and Golden Tate, though, especially not early on. I think he was a reach at #22.

I am forever grateful for all the great players I've been fortunate enough to watch play the game with horseshoes on their helmets,
and I'm eagerly anticipating the opportunity to see which new Colts become the stars and fan favorites of tomorrow.

The guy was on a roster for 2 games last year. And 11 the year before. And has had 32rec in 2 years. And now he is an instant slot wr?! Not happening. He will be lucky to make the roster.
Be careful with that prediction Trav........Blair White caugt 45 passes....in 2010,,,

He obviously has a connection with Manning & Broncos.
He's been working out with Manning over the past few months so I'm willing to bet Manning has confidence in his abilities. In a worst case scenario he's in camp and a bit of a tutor to the other receivers about how Manning throws the ball on various routes, what to expect and things of that sort.
It will be interesting. I hated it when he left. It will be good to see them connecting.

No he was a project when he first came in, but improved a lot this year. had over 500 yards with Tebow at Qb. And he came on strong the second half of the year. He could easily blow up with Peyton at QB. The last #88 he had at WR turned out pretty good i think. Broncos are gunna be scary on offense this year, they just keep adding more and more pieces. Tamme and Dressen at TE, Thomas and Decker at WR and Stokley in the slot with Caldwell in rotation (could be the other way around with that last one though). Not to mention a solid run game and Oline.

As a young man....being the 5th stringer, who was a PS player only called up for injuries.... Stokley will be 36. With a laundry list of previous injuries. Playing possibly the most physically demanding WR pos on the field....the ONLY thing Stokley has going for him is that Manning is his buddy. If its true Dallas is "done, washed up" then I couldn't imagine the description for Stokely.

Yes he is a familiar face for Peyton.
Yes he's been helping Peyton in his workouts (Peyton throwing to him etc).
Yes (IMO) as long as he is not injured, he is a good asset.
Those things said, Peyton will work with all his "targets" and get them "trained" to how he wants them to be. It's what he does. We've seen him do it his entire career...Harrison, Wayne, Clark, Collie, White, Gonzolez, Tamme... ... ...need I keep going. Granted some of those "targets" where more talented than others, but Peyton worked with them.
He will continue to hone his craft and prove that he can "train" a new generation of recievers and TEs to be the best they can be.
Stokley's role in this is yet to be determined. I wish him the best and hope he does make the team and does play this fall on the field w/ Peyton...something I'd like to see for sure...

Was thinking the same thing Peyton stressed?Needs weapons?Cmon Man.Peyton with a run game thats scary.Peyton with a DEf and run game=Success#18 don't need no security blanket. I think the Broncs will bring in as many potentials as possible to make for the best situation they can afford. Let's see how the next few months play out.
