Deep Receiver Class in this years draft!

If what I am reading is any indication, it seems that the receiver corp is pretty deep in this years draft, but none are the freaks like Green or Julio Jones, but some are close.

 

Look at Justin Hunter being projected in the 2nd round, Robert Woods in the 2nd to 3rd. The only 1st round pick experts can agree on is Keenan Allen. He will go top 10 imo due to the amount of teams who really needs some offensive weapons, i.e. Miami, NY Jets and many others. After Keenan Allen, I do believe Cordaroy Patterson and Deandre Hopkins have a good shot at going in the first, but as an earlier post suggested trading up for Hopkins, I don't know if you would have to trade up too much. I count 8 players I believe will go by Round 2, but none super high except Allen. Of course that could change after combines. Still it looks like it is relatively deep, and as I said earlier, a great QB can make a really good receiver an all pro receiver.  I do think we need to focus on OL, but sooner than later, we are going to have to think about replacing Reggie, but who knows, Grigs seems pretty high on Palmer, so we may not draft a WR. Time will tell. Would love your thoughts.

 

Seems a lot of receivers also are making an impression in the Senior Bowl also. I like Terrance Williams from Baylor, and somebody is going to get a T.Y. type person in Quinton Patton. Here is the link to the Senior Bowl.

One more thing, beside watching the colts each Sunday during the year, one of the times of the year I love the most is before the draft, and of course the draft itself. If Grigs comes anywhere close to last year, watch out.

Patton and TY aren't very similar. Patton is tall and slow.

Hopkins and Woods are not #1 WRs.

I think Allen would be a first round quality pick most any year....   but I don't think he'd be top-10 every year...  Just my opinion...

 

I don't think there's anyone in this group who profiles freakishly like Calvin and Andre Johnson, or Julio Jones and AJ Green and a few others...   honestly, not even close.

 

But I do agree that there's very good depth in this class.    Lots of players who will likely grade as 2nd and 3rd round picks.  And that may mean that some of them might get pushed lower down in the draft...    they might go in the 4th or 5th round...    some team might get themselves a steal with a high quality player taken with a mid-round pick.

Hunter needs 20 lbs. and hands. Would hate the Colts to get him. Only big name receivers I'd like the Colts to get, regardless of need or position are Woods and Allen. Patterson would be on the list if he had more than a year.

If woods can stay healthy he most certianly has #1 ability as WR. People just think because he isnt a burner that he cant be #1. He is probably the most polished reciever in this draft to be honest. The big question with him is health. If he can stay healthy though he could turn out to be one of the best WR taken in this class.

And I was readind a report on the senior bowl and they were saying hes only 6'0. So who knows how big he really is.

He does not have #1 ability, IMO.

He is actually very fast. It is ridiculous to think people think he isn't a #1 because of speed. Keenan Allen is slower than him but has #1 ability.

Well you definaley have the right to your own opinomber but I think if you ask a number of experts they would probably agree that he could be a number one guy If he stays healthy. The guys runs solid routes, has good hands, good speed and can dreate after the catch. Hes very reliable when he is playing. he just got overshadowed with Lee being able to blow past guys. He is too small. Not physical enough. Health concerns. Not great at anything.

He's top notch coming out of college at running routes and is a tenacious blocker as well. Hard worker.

As far as injuries he'd had the same ankle injury for a couple years now but no other issues. I'd want to hear what the team dr's had to say.

Size does not really determine wheather a player has the ability to be a #1 guy. Many recivers out there that are great but not tall but like Reggie Wayne. So that doesnt really even count. Health yes its a concern but as far as ability if he does stay healthy he can be be just as good as any reciver in this class. I watched a Cal USC game where I had heard the guys on the set saying Allen and Woods are really like the same thing except Allen is taller and faster. But Allen isn't perfect either, hes had an Injury as well. And Physicality I wouldnt say hes not physical at all becuase he does show some. And not great at anything well he runs really solid routes and shows really solid hands and can make tough catches. He's reliable which is big. And Woods has better Career Numbers than Allen. Almost double the Amount of TD Receptions Allen has in his Career! And wouldnt you say a big reciver should be the big target in the endzone and have a alot of TD receptions? Size does not determine Ability. The player can have it and not know how to use it or vice versa. I dont see how you can say Allen has surfire number 1 ability and then look at Woods numbers and what hes done and say he doesn't. It doesnt really add up from what Ive seen and read. But thats me.

There may not be that one guy like Blackmon last year, or Green the year before that, but there's a few guys that will easily go in the first and a few that could rise.

 

Keenan Allen really jumps out at me.

Teams will reach for WRs like they do every year.. I think we should take any of these guys if they fall to the 3rd, but they won't there will be at least 2 and probably 3 taken in the first

I just cant get my heart to wrap around any WR love this year......it is an eventual need in my estimation but I feel like O-line and defense have so many immediate needs its hard for me to embrace a WR...I could be totally wrong, its just my opinion at this moment. A quality BPA at any draft point is fine by me, but if I were instructing the scouting dept. I would say call me on this once you have filled all the other holes first.
