I expected this move to happen. Pagano seems to like him a lot.

I'd rather get a guy who didn't help coach the worst OL in football, but I suppose it was probably the lack of talent rather than the coach.
I will delete this when the new Colts win a Super Bowl.

The real question is does the assistant of the assistant now get a new assistant?

Ehhh...

Or, the glass half full - we got a guy who had to work with the worst line in football, and still had one of the better offenses in the game.

I had my apple juice in my hand. I'll pick apple juice over an article anyday
You and your apple juice...man.
The mods should add a little "apple juice" icon just for you.
Anyway...this promotion doesn't really move me either way. But I trust the front office knows what they are doing. If they upgrade the line talent, he'll probably wind up looking like a genius.

If he comes back they should install a rear view mirror on his helmet. That way he won't have to turn his head after every play to see who just beat him.

Mr. Isay said Jeff Saturday would have a place in the Colts front office or staff. He could be our offensive line assistant

Probably, but he won't be the assistant Oline Coach, he'll be the assistant to the Oline Coach.

I called this, not to toot my own horn, but I just had a feeling Gilbert would be the guy instead of going out and hiring somebody from another team.

could be a good move... he has worked with the line... knows what we need to do to protect Luck and get a strong rushing game going and He knows what we have in the T and G we alreday have, including the injured reserve list... I'm assuming he was able to work with them more on a one on one basis and can see potential as to a possible starter down the road or if we need to keep as back ups and look further...
He and Grigs and Pagano have worked together for the first year... Consistency... what we missed this year on the Line due to injuries..

I tend to think more in the lines of a fron office job rather than an assistant to the O line coach.Give that spot to one of the younger guys already on our staff. Saturday is a bright guy that is great dealing with people , just have a feeling he'll end up in some teams front office.
