Ravens players whining before the game about Brady and Peyton

It's always kind of interesting to see that, by the end of most seasons, Manning and Brady have had fewer roughing the passer calls made for hits on them than most of the league's QBs. Neither guy gets sacked a whole lot so that probably has something to do with it, but to me, this has always been one of those things where perception is one thing, reality is another.
The NBA is a different story though. ![]()

To me, PI calls are more of an indication of how the elite QBs get calls than roughing the passer calls because both Peyton and Brady try to get rid of the ball quickly enough.

I would agree with that.
Same thing in other sports too... top pitchers tend to get a bigger strike zone, etc-etc...

You could also add where balls get spotted for 1st downs to that preferred list of elite QBs to that list as well Chad. If it's close, zebras tend to give top tier QB's & their WR's the benefit of the doubt too.

The cool thing about refs in Playoff games though they tend to let TE/WR push offs go & they actually let safeties, DB's, & LB's hit WRs too. I like that. Let the defense put a hat on hat for once. Nice! Snap, crackle, pop baby. Snap, crackle, pop. ![]()

Yeah I know, it so sad. I don't want to see any player critically injured, but stop pampering the offense please. I still think as head shots have become forbidden strike zones knees, legs, & the lower body are more susceptible to permanent, life changing injuries.
It makes a difference who the officiating crew is too. I have always liked Mike Carey. His hand signals are always so forceful & pronounced. So does Eli Manning in 2007 with the David Tyree throw & helmet catch. Sorry NE fans...By hey, no Giants in the SB this year, that should make Foxboro happy right?

This is whining..
////""However, the Baltimore Ravens’ preparations focus on one unusual feature of Peyton Mannings’ game compared to the other elite NFL quarterbacks. The Baltimore Ravens will be looking out against giving Peyton Manning any unnecessary excuses for having them flagged since the Super Bowl MVP and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady have built a reputation of complaining to the referees and often getting their way.
"It's known that they're going to complain or if they get thrown down and look at a ref they're going to get a flag thrown against the defense," said Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo. "We've seen that happen against us before with Tom Brady.
“We always teach the same rules, regardless of the quarterback: hit them in the strike zone,” added Brendon. “If you're within a step of his arm motion, hit him."
But opposing defenses have been only flagged once for roughing-up-the passer throughout this season against Peyton Manning. However, that lack of numbers lies in Peyton Mannings’ talents of quickly releasing the ball since Denver Broncos racked up the second lowest sacks (21) in the NFL this regular season.""/////

Ravens players always seem to think the league is out to get them.....Steelers too.

Okay, this is my sarcasm kicking in here, but rather than forcing coaches to throw challenge flags by hand can we just give them a flare gun or t-shirt gun with an air compressor in it for height & distance? Yeah I know, it's a safety issue & would never happen. It would look cool on Sunday or Monday Night Football though. Just Kidding!!! Can't you just hear Al Michaels saying "Pagano fired off a challenge flare. Let's go to commercial & sort this play out shall we." ![]()

The flare gun would never work because it would fry Jerry Jones precious gigantic flat screen TV in Dallas & a zebra would file for workers compensation if he ever got injured from a high velocity flag from a t-shirt launcher that hit him in a sensitive body area. Major bummer. The fire marshal probably isn't too receptive to shooting off a fire hazard into an indoor stadium either. Details, details... I was only trying to spruce up this great game with a little innovation & ingenuity.
Greatness is never truly appreciated at 1st glance is it?
Just Kidding!!! Okay, I'm done with my foolishness on this topic. Thanks for indulging me everyone. ![]()

I think if anything, because Refs generally let more plays go in the Playoffs, it hurts someone like Peyton, who will throw to someone he see's is being held, only to have the ball picked off or something.
“What he does on the field – he’s an assassin…Class with cruelty.” – Jim Harbaugh on Andrew Luck
"It's okay to be smarter than everyone else, but you can't go around pointing it out!" – Mary Cooper

Actually, you bring up an excellent point SH. If you expecting calls to go your way in the Playoffs, they seldom if ever do, especially if the zebras have already made a deliberate decision to be more loose & less rigid with NFL rule violations. And yes, a QB can set themselves up for high risk turnovers if they are not judicious with the ball in the 2nd half. Well said SH!

No question about it....and how many times did we see Dwight Freeney in playoff games with darn near a Full-Nelson applied to him, and the refs just swallow the whistle.
Draft picks are NOT finished products....let the coaches coach!

Yes, I love seeing guys crumble to the ground close to unconsciousness. That would be great for the future of the game

I pray they let them play this weekend. All of them. I don't want to see ticky tack calls carry Manning or Brady or Rodgers to the Super Bowl just based on elite QB status or even Andrew Luck in the future if he reaches that status.
Wasn't there two Tom Brady interceptions called back last year in the AFC title game? I do think the Ravens at times despise Tom Brady though.
They might just be frustrated too, everyone in the media and many fans are running around with their arms up in the air screaming "WE NEED MANNING VS. BRADY." And that might very well happen of course, but I hope it happens fairly and there will also be two very good teams playing this weekend vs. them to try and make sure it does not happen. And the spreads for both games show what heavy underdogs both the Ravens and Texans are becoming......
I think I read early in the week Arian Foster was upset about a Boston writer already saying the Texans had zero shot.
And I am sure if the Ravens saw this after the game was over vs. the Colts it could not have made them thrilled:

May the odds be ever in the Colts favor.

Brady and Manning are so old...they arent interested in getting hit anymore....
...and they may know where they're going with the ball before other QBs do....

I do agree with you there on the bolded part. Brady lobbies the refs for more late hit penalties and has done it enough times while playing the Ravens. I do think they had to drag Peyton into it more but the true one they despise is no doubt Brady in my mind. Peyton lobbies for more holding calls however. Just my observation.

Sounds like they have major issues with Brady.....Manning's only drawn one roughing penalty from anybody all year??

Its interesting in games I watched when manning would run the play fast and there are 12 guys on the field and the REPLACEMENT Ref had his back to the field tight where the 12th man was still coming to the siidelines so no call & yes Peyton got mad ,
Since then when there is no call on a play like that and peyton is sure , he has at times somehow managed to get the ref to review under the hood and true enough he was right each time and the PENALTY called agisnt the D , he complains for reasons he see's , others may not,
after all he is as the Bernard Pollatd recently called him a macbook with a computer for a mind and Harbourgh said hes just a man not a computer but that was a good analogy , if thats the case as input comes in the computer reads Ref malfunction when something is not called that should be & the blinking lights go off , warning warning , m,alfunction will robinson for anyone who remembers & is old enough to have watched Lost In Space TV series, that was the Robots favorite line
Thatrs all I got am running, cant wait t for the game
