I think he did fine, considering the circumstances. He didn't make the gameplan, he had to do the best he could to run the offense of the OC the team was familiar with, and the results weren't terrible minus the not reaching the end zone part.

The curious thing about Clyde is that I'm not sure we know what he wants to do. With Manning, he had to try and run Peyton's offense. No matter what he wanted to do, I doubt you change much up on one of the greatest. Then he had Curtis, and that speaks for itself. Now he had to call Bruce's stuff and execute that plan, and he did well.

I really can't say I know what he'd do, but he didn't look bad today.

One thing I realized today:  without the chunk plays, the Colts aren't talented enough to methodically move the ball down the field. At this stage, they need the chunk plays.  Baltimore's big plays were the difference in the game.

I think Clyde called a very good game. We were in the game till 9-17 when AV missed the kick. We moved the ball well, got a lot of first downs, dominated time of possession. The issue was that the O-line and WR drops did not help Luck in the red zone whatsoever. That was the difference, plus the gazillion false starts.

This Ravens' D could be had, IMO. We left at least 10 points on the field, IMO.

I personally hate Arians offense.  I know, it will be said we won 11 games and Luck set passing records.  But it is too hit or miss.  Drive will be going well, they take a shot down the field, gain two yards, then are in 3rd and 8.   You have to ask yourself if that 50% completion is worth the occasional long passes.  I think it is wrong offense for Luck.  He is talented enough to make any offense run pretty well, but I personally would like to see Arians get a HC job, and another OC brought in with a new system that is more west coast based.

they did not have chunk plays vs the Texans and played well, Just the one long pass to Hilton

I think BA would've done better even if he was vomiting profusely.

We should've went no huddle from jumpstreet. I saw no effort to call plays in a way that left extra guys back to block. Zero downfield attempts in the first half, reflecting no desire to stretch the Baltimore defense.

He didn't do a great job by any means. This team was not a dink and dump offense. It reminded me greatly of last year trying to get the qb to pretend to be Manning. I think he called one pass to the end zone all game in the redzone. Play calling was way too conservative on the offense. Really wish Arians was here for this game.

That 70 yarder and the 101 yard KO were the difference in the game.  Without the big plays, it's a different game.  That's what I'm saying.  For all the talk of play calling, I'm not sure this team is talented enough to methodically move up and down the field and compete without the big plays.

The false start on this drive was the ball game. Looked like it was play action pass and with 1st and 5 could have been a new ball game.

I disagree. We needed better red zone plays, the plays between the 20s were done right and obviously we were talented enough to march down the field methodically, I am not going to sell this group short, they are better than we give them credit for.

I do think we were conservative closer to the red zone and did not use our TEs and seam routes well enough there.

BA would have been better with some tweeking as the game progressed, if only from the familiararity standpoint. This is a new team with new coaching. Clyde needs to go live with the Polian's and play golf. Hire Norve Turner and get it overwith. And get an NFL offensive line.

That's the problem I'm getting at, Chad.  With the talent level and level of experience, if you attempt to methodically move the ball all day, something bad is bound to happen - a missed block, drop, or whatever it might be.  If you occasionally move in chunks, flawless execution is not required.

This team, at this stage, probably needs a little of that, in my opinion.

Manning, Brady, a veteran team - sure, they can do it all day.

I'm not a fan of Christensen. I think he did ok, not great, not bad. Than run play on 2nd and 10 was a bad choice I think...

It was far worse than I think we realize.

The most notable issue was the obviousness of our intent to run pre-snap. I swear, everytime EVRYTIME I thought "This will be a run"....sure 'nuff, it was a run. Very few playaction attempts as well, but given the horrid play @ RT by Sowell and the speed in which Bal defenders were getting to Luck maybe that was best not to draw things out.

A glaring issue to me was a lack of aggression, safe-mode style playcalling that attempted to cause over-pursuit but usually failed. A no-huddle, aggressive 'caution to the wind' style of calling was necessary but utterly lacking.

Ballard was atrocious at picking up free-blitzers. I would've been happy to see Allen at FB to help while we took shots down-field.

I would grade the playcalling and offensive approach as a D-

They were talented enough to beat the big time playoff teams, thats just a fact, we were not going to beat Baltimore, we could in Indy but it simply was not going to happen this year in Baltimore, we have a horrific O Line, we were at our best when moving the ball methodically up and down the field, of course we need "chunk play" as Arians calls them, all teams use them to (some alot more then others) but those chunk plays cant just be "Oh lets throw one deep and see what happens several times a game". Back in the Manning era we had chunk plays but they were balanced out with short to intermediate plays (alot of them) and run play THEN we went deep off of playaction(which Luck needs serious work on selling). I'd like to get a bigger wr to LATE in the draft

Luck took plenty of shots downfield today. He just didn't connect on any of them. I think Clyde did a great job of mixing it up, and in my opinion, put Luck into better plays when the Ravens tried to bring pressure. He used more screens, and I liked the little stacked receiver pick play they kept running every time the Ravens blitzed. Can't say I remember Arians using that one too often. He also used more outside runs and stretch play-action in tandem (which many have called for) and stayed committed to establishing the run. I think our offense will be fine, regardless of who is here next year. Clyde is capable of running the show, in my opinion. Our problem today was all execution.

He did an ok job considering but I still would not SETTLE for Clyde as the oc. That's the safe choice. I've seen enough from Clyde the last 3yrs to know he's not the answer. Go out and get Norv or somebody with an aggresive style on offense. With an upgrade on the O-line the sky would be the limit.
