For those who can't get enough of bayless bashing us on TV

My worst nightmare is everything in that article coming true. If PM keeps up the MVP pace for 3+ more years and Colts stay average many will say Irsay made the wrong choice. If PM wins a few more SB and we can't make the playoffs I do not know if trading 3 years for 15 was worth the price.

I refused to read this article, just like I refuse to watch First Take.

I got tricked into it.  I went to ESPN's webpage and they had up on a thing about the playoffs and it just said :"Colts" so I clicked on it and I got this.  Personally I think anything by Skip Bayless should come with a disclaimer "Warning what you are about to consume would be considered nonsense by most people and may not be suitable for small children.  Viewer/reader discretion is advised."

Good grief Skip Bayless hates Jim Irsay and he is still trying to rally Colts fans against Irsay

I few things skip said that I have issue with

Really poor taste shot at our coach.

This idea doesn't bother me at all. It is certainly not my worst nightmare

 yes you are skip

I don't know where skip was when this happened but, I was here and it was brutal.

You calling Peyton a liar?

My view is he stepped in when he needed to......and then once he had new people in place, he stepped out. And anyway, Irsay hired Polian so I guess he had already remade the team in his 'image'

Why do you keep asking this irrelevant question?

ok

Seriously?

Jealous?

And may I also add Skip if you are so happy for RGIII and Peyton why do you also have to keep hating on the Colts?

Yeah and.......... We didn't beat the jags twice. He said we beat them twice.

First, as has been noted here,  Bayless is the biggest Tebow fan of all-time.   He's now been thoroughly proven wrong, though his ego still thinks he's right and the rest of the world is wrong.

Second,   did you notice that most of the story is about Manning and much less of the story is about RG3/Luck.

Bayless LOVES him some RG3....    this is his new Tebow.   And he's never been a Luck fan.   Said his teammates in the NFL would never like him or follow him because he's too nerdy...     seriously,  that's what he said.    Anyone here think Luck is too much of a nerd for his teammates to follow?          :slaphead:

As Colts fans, I don't want to say we should get used to this,  but we should not be surprised when Skip goes off like this.   There's more to come in the years to come.    Until RG3 fades or Andrew passes him for all to see and acknowledge,  Skip will keep up this nonsense as he has with Tebow.     He's going to be relentless about it.    It's going to be annoying and obnoxious.

Oh well....   at least we have the right quarterback!

I agree.  Like I said before this was more about him being upset about the move the Colts made in releasing Manning than it was about RG3 and Luck.  That's why I said he doesn't get it.  This move wasn't about the next four years it was about the next 15.

I will not watch. Been avoiding the media negativity and all that lately. Nothing will ruin this season for me and the confidence I also have in Luck NOW and in the future. This has been my favorite regular season ever for the Colts. Doubters can shut it. :neener:  I think Skip has always hated Aaron Rodgers too and he turned out okay.

But, the last time I saw Skip Bayless was in the offseason after the Jets got Tebow. Oh My God. I sat there and heard him basically say, "I will tell you what will happen. Sometime in the middle of the Jets season Mark Sanchez will falter under the pressure. The Jets will put Tebow in and make the playoffs. And this time Tebow will not have to carry them as much as he did with the Broncos. And you know why? Because in New York Tebow will have a defense."

*sigh*

And a classic that never gets old........ :yay:  :P

I did not waste my time reading the article.  I am sure Bayless said a bunch of stupid things like he usually does.  To me he and Whitlock are a lot alike, both generally will make stupid points just to get a rise out of people.  I have stopped reading either one, no sense in feeding those trolls.

The progression, and obvious disdain for Luck, was hillarious to watch this year. To preface, this is all true.

Early in the year they were discussing what would be considered a good year for Andrew. This was before the season had started, and Skip said "Winning 6 games."

Then once we had won 6 games he changed his mind to "make the playoffs."

lmao

Luck can't win with this guy, because it doesn't fit the narrative he is trying to paint for this season. We were suppose to be bad so Skip could keep pounding his chest about Irsay making a mistake.

Anyways take whatever Skip says with a grain of salt. He's just a character on TV. Maybe he feeds into his "personality", but he can't believe half the stuff he says.

Edit: I do love the built in excuse for Griffin too. If he wins it's a miracle and he overcame his knee. If he loses he was hurt no big deal.

Skip Bayless is a fake. He's an ESPN prop. That's his "role" to take the other side of the argument.

Any of you guys watch or listen to the Dan Patrick Show? Every once in a while he'll have a former ESPN employee on. Several of them have said Skip is a ratings prop. IIRC, Michelle Beadle even said Skip doesn't even believe his on rants most of the time...he's just great at defending his argument. Off camera his is an amazing guy and one of the few she really misses from ESPN. But his on-air personality is as legit as The Undertaker being dead.

Does Skip Brainless know the word: "salary cap"?

If he did, he knew the reason for cutting Peyton.

He is shallow...very shallow.

I got mad at first reading, then I remembered myself that huge media hype on either top rookie QB can be expected. I don't like the way Skip praises RGIII while dishonors Luck and the organization by softening and understating Colts' 11-5 season.

I seem to remember a couple of guys like oh I don't know, Terry Bradshaw, Chris Collinsworth and Sean Salisbury also hating on Peyton Manning. Can't win the big one, too soft, not enough desire blah blah blah. As another poster stated these guys write this stuff to get attention and attract people to read their stuff. Someone will be right in the long run. Personally I think that Luck had a great year for a rookie and should only get better. I also think that Luck, Wilson and RG3 played well enough to win the ROY. Personally I don't care who wins it. Awards are just popularity contests anyway. As far as Skip Bayless goes I think most people know he's a blowhard

I'm going to go against the grain here. I don't really like Skip, but I know what he does for a living.

In all honesty, I know far more football fans in "real life" that are saying the same things about this situation. In fact I'd go so far as to say some posters on here, while they may not like Skip still say 18>12 and don't let us forget. It's not a far off article, I just happen to think Skip is full of it, and The Colts did set up for future success,he and others don't agree. That's why they play the game!

Skip was right about about how 4 years is a lifetime in the NFL, and Peyton has continually shown that he's above that. Should be interesting.

I will say he messed up "facts" everywhere in that article.

The Cap comment on Peyton and The colts beating JAX twice was kinda glaring, I'm sure there's more, but I'm not scanning that article again..

Not really true. As of right now, we have enough cap space to absorb Manning's $17m cap hit. We're already carrying at $10.4m penalty.

That's hilarious he's basically said Lebron James let Dallas off the hook because he didn't have a post up game. Cuban schooled him.

I'll tell you what it would be hard to argue with Skip because he's so stupid he knocks down your arguments with sheer stupidity it makes his critics feel stupid and confused. I'd just be mesmerized and astonished by his sheer stupidity and lack of causal evidence. Instead of the Mavs playing well and executed when it matters legitimately beating the Heat in the finals he turns it into Lebron James let them off the hook.

Yep. He brings people down to his level with stupidity and then beats them with experience.

Colt's are way better off in the future without these contracts.  Yes, it would cause a lot of people great anguish to see PM win the SB not in a Colt's uniform but the team made the right decision for the future . It's either keep PM and hope we make the playoffs , with a real long shot for the SB, or load up and go on a much longer and better run with a chance to win it all multiple times. The first year of Grigson has been brilliant, better than we could ever have expected. These draft picks are panning out awesome  and the future looks very bright.

People need to understand that in order to keep a show interesting, they have to have people with 2 opposing views arguing with each other.

But ESPN just takes it to the next level in a bad way.... A real argument would be, "Who is better: Peyton Manning or Tom Brady"

Skip Bayless argument: "Who is better: Mark Sanchez or Aaron Rodgers, I pick Mark Sanchez because blah blah blah...."

What is the reason behind it? Disney Channel owns ESPN. So they like to overexaggerate their arguments, just like all the children who obnoxiously overact on Disney Channel...

I had a chance to take an internship with Pardon the interruption a couple years back in Maryland. Im glad i did not...lol

Six in one hand, half dozen in the other. I like the new direction, and I think Grigson has knocked it out of the park. I was just refuting the idea that we couldn't have afforded to keep Manning because of the cap. Technically, we could have.

Skip does it on purpose. There is no way in hell he would still be employed if he didn't stir the pot. That's the best way to get hits/viewers etc. and bring in revenue. He's just like Bill O' Reilly, they love to stir the pot because they'll get more readers/viewers. I honestly cannot blame him. If I'm an ESPN exec, I'm hiring guys who are going to duke it out verbally. It makes good TV. That carries over to articles(like this one). Good on you skip.

Exactly, Skip is doing this fire people up and anyone getting upset about this is eating right into his hand. If Skip actually believes what he says, than I really wonder how he has such a high profile job, since he would clearly be a complete *. But I do not think that is the case and if it is, he is one of the luckiest men in the world.

Although as far as "good on you skip", maybe, but bad on you ESPN. This is the problem with ESPN, they rarely analyze sports and rather report sensationalized stories, like Tebow, TO, Jerry Jones, the Jets implosion, and Lebron choking/winning. The best part about Cuban's complete owning of Skip is it doesn't just stand true for Skip, but pretty much ESPN's entire programming. If anyone wants to watch actual analysts and worthwhile reporting on football, turn on the NFL network.

Why would it cause anguish seeing Peyton win more rings somewhere else? That is totally bogus. If people really do think that way, then they should put their school bag in the cupboard and grow up.
