The drive deserves it's own thread.  The Texans were in sell out run defense the entire time.

Ballard was a work horse warrior.  The O-Line played their best series.

Costonzo blew out a hole for Luck to sneak a first down (even though the announcers credited Link).

Great pitch and catch to Reggie for the final first down, no fear to throw the ball there.

It's not too often you see a drive go for almost ten minutes when the other team knows what play you're going to run just about every play.  Amazing.

Besides that, and correct me if I'm wrong, we didn't have a first down in the second half until that drive, correct?

Agree, it was top class, and something you rarely see in those circumstances. This is not the first time we've thrown a pass rather than run x 3 in a similar game ending drive attempt.

Surely the TD on 3rd and 23 counts as a first down! Well, it's better than that if not....

My favourite play from the game was the 3rd and 23 conversion.  That was unreal.  The first drive we had in the game was textbook

It was brilliant, I was so angry at the 3rd and 13 hold but the next play was magic. One of my favourite plays all season.

That is the first time all year that Arians conservative play-calling late in games worked.

Kudos to the offensive line and Ballard for beating up the Texans front 7 in the last drive.

It was conservative,  but only as conservative as it needed to be.  They threw twice on 3rd down, getting an interference call and a catch.  So he played it perfectly.  No need to take a chance when you don't have to, right?

I won't be surprised to see Cincy run the same gameplan, although there's been plenty of film of late on how to take down the Texans.

Correct, and even more credit to the offense when they were stacking the box with 7-8 guys against a physical defense like the Texans.

Usually one would have to pass the ball to beat the Texans. Cincy has a very good duo in Dalton/Green. I could see those guys racking up tremendous yards. Should be a great game.

That drive was a demoalization of the Texans, nothing says payback like 9:46 of watching your heart eaten out by your opponent, the look on their faces was priceless. They had to stand there paralyzed while being eaten alive. I can't remember the last time, if ever payback felt so good.

Yeah, I was ready to throw something at the screen when they called that hold there. That was pretty mild compared to the perpetual choke-hold Duane Brown had on Freeney every time he tried to edge rush. Made that 3rd and 23 TD that much more sweet when it happened  :D

Yes....those are getting absolutely ridiculous.

MMA's top fighters would be proud of some of those chokes.

Yea, good post, and also we kept running to J.J. Watt's side for good yards, which is amazing in and of itself.

I think they were using Watts angle against him. If he's cutting inside and Ballard runs to the outside, Watt is going the opposite direction off the snap. On certain plays Watt wasn't sealing the edge, probably because he's the Texans best player to rush the QB.

I just re-watched the drive, paying particular attention to their superstar Watt.

One tackle for a loss.  Totally ineffective every other play.  Not even involved in any other tackle.  Mostly owned by Castonzo when they lined up against each other.

Let's see - 70 yards > 23 yards so it should.

wow, i'm glad yout took a look at that, i was wondering what the main neurtraization factor was and I wouldn't have thought it was Castonzo but I'm sure glad to hear that it was. I will look at that drive again as well, as I recall, many times it was kind of clogged up on that left side so was hard to exactly see what was going on in real-time. Thanks for the analysis !!!!!

Castonzo has lost some battles this year, but he's mostly held his own against some of the best pass rushers in the league. We dealt with some really good players from the NFC North, and then he played significantly better against Watt the second time around. I really think Castonzo has the ability to become a top level tackle.

That was an unreal drive.  The Colts had not been running the ball well at all going into that drive and they just took over.  The Texans fans aren't going to like hearing this some but I think they quit some on that last drive.  Even though the Colts got no points out of that drive it was the best drive they have had all season.

I hope we see this in the playoffs. I loved the last drives against the Ravens in the playoffs, the year the Colts won the Super Bowl.

Dom Rhodes and the o line ran and the Ravens could not do anything about it.

There have been a number of games in which Ballard has finished off opponents with hard runs in the waning moments. Texans, Browns, Dolphins come to mind. I may be leaving out a couple more, but this guy is the physical back we need in those situations. Oh yeah, Chiefs game too.
