Unfortunately Griffin was brought into the thread by Chad, but open the window a smidgen, and a Skin will jump in. BTW, Griffen was involved in 9 wins, not 10.

Luck orchestrating 11 wins (from 2 last season) is by far the most impressive stats of them all, in my opinion. Some talk about us being in a weak division, but have you watched the Eagles and Cowboys? They are very poor as well.

The main difference regarding the QB stats are that both the Seahawks and the Redskins each have 3 Offensive Line pro-bowlers, we have.........

I'm happy with Luck. Beyond all expectations. Will definitely be on a plane to Indy next season.....my first but not my last visit....

Sorry.

It was just bothering me that our QB was not getting more love than he should be!!! But I engage in friendly banter and am not hostile, if that helps!!! :)

Colin Cowherd has been having a great discussion all morning about Luck vs RG. I think RG is worthy of the praises he is getting but to compare what they do is comparing red apples to green apples. Luck is asked to do so much more in the passing game than RG from pass attempts to the route tree to reading defenses to adjusting plays at the line of scrimmage.

Outsiders just don`t have a Clue about the Corners we started the season with. Where are they now? Ugly wasn`t it.

The leftover cover 2 players learning to play Chucks Hybrid.

Mathis and Freeney so called OLB`s. Been waiting for YEARS for our D to do that. Hahahaha!

Trading at low cost for two throw away Philly LB`s.

So many Rookie`s in the receiving Corp.

A COMPLETE mish mash of doubted O-Lineman thrown together.

Rookie QB and RB will lead the way.

The idea that this TEAM will be playing A LOT from BEHIND entered ALL the prognosticators minds!!

That such a new group of Players & Coaches would have the Fortitude to accomplish what they have done is beyond the Wildest Reasonable Expectations. "You all know where they had us"

Chuck taking his TEAM into Baltimore at this Time is the next Perfect Chapter to this fantastic Odyssey. Lets Dance!

You think that has something to do with Luck throwing it twice as much?

Attempts don't contribute to receiver stats, completions do.  But, yes, Luck having about 30% more completions does have a lot to do with it.

Indeed.  I only answer the burgundy courtesy phone, I don't make calls out. ;)

Griffin was also knocked out of the game in a close loss.  I doubt he would have thrown the two picks that Cousins did to ice the game for the Falcons.

The Eagles are awful this year but the Jaguars are still worse.  The Giants and the Cowboys are teams that are completely variable.  They can beat the best team or lose to the worst in any given week.  The Titans are simply not a good football team these days.  Texans are good but I think everyone is beginning to question how good they are with how they've played lately.  Shame, really, I like that team :(

I have been frustrated with #12 at times this year as I thought he would be a little better stats-wise. That being said, his clutch play has far outweighed any sub par statistic . Luck has easily been the "most valuable Rookie" on his team, while after watching last nights game I wouldn't even say that RG3 was best offensive Rookie on his OWN team. I dont want to hear any Skins fans(why are u guys even here anyway) talking about how productive our WR core is, as that is just sour grapes. Not our fault you guys over-paid for Garcon, and we replaced him with a game-breaking rookie. Pot-shots aside,I have been happy with Lucks output and could care less about RG3, as he doesn't play for our team which is THE COLTS, in case any trolls need to find their way back to where they belong. Sorry for the rant, just over this whole deal and can't wait till they give RG3 the trophy for ROTY and we can all move on with our lives!

Didn't expect even that. I only expected a little more accuracy and fewer INT's. Once it became evident what we were going to do offensively, I obviously scaled back my expectations. I also did not expect him to be running for his life all season. Once again, this was before the season started, once I saw our O-line were human turnstiles, all bets were off. Honestly, I am thankful he survived(knocks on wood).

I guess I looked at some rookie QB s interceoption totals..and I thought he'd throw about 20.//.

I hoped we'd throw the ball down field a lot and that where the 'picks' live...

...at the start of the season....I didnt think TY Hilton would do what he's done and I didnt see Reggie with 1300 yards,

even though he'd been beyond that level before

Gosh Chad, I was just correcting joker. You did nothing wrong! Nor did (or does) RGIII - our resident non-trolling guest....apologies if you thought I was complaining...

I don't get some (media / boards) infatuation over Luck's turnovers and Wilson and RG3's lack of...

It boils down to situations.      Luck's calls for a lot of balls in the air...  the others don't.     It really is as simple as that.

If anyone watches the games and knows ANYTHING about it they would simply look to 4 stats.   Rushing yards and Atts, and Passing yards and Atts,   they tell the story of a QB and a team.

Luck has nearly doubled Wilson and the Skins (RG3 and Cousins) pass attempts.     nearly DOUBLED.

This morning I heard a national guy going on and on about "how magically RG3 handled the ball, and led the team"   OH MY GOD.  The dude has one of the most average games a QB can have and not one mention of Alfred Morris.     It is getting really tiresome.  From my end the RG3 backlash simply comes from the constant national media slobbering over this guy.   The reason Washington is where they are right now is because the D has improved GREATLY and they run the ball.

Wilson is the one that deserves all the praise ..  he truly is burning the NFL up right now...  but ...    he also has the 3rd best running game in the NFL and 4 ranked D.   He is actually in the best spot of any of the rookie QB's.

Luck has carried this team, Colt fans have witnessed it first hand.   The folks who only look at highlights and look at stats will come to the same conclusions.   Luck is a turnover machine...  but  don't turnovers generally equal L's?

Not for Indy,   ...   I guess Luck is only good in the 4th quarter.   The one that matters..  ;)

Yes, all the time he spent with Fleener the last 5 years really paid off ... LOL!

Actually it did...   Coby just didn't hold up his end of the arrangement early in the year...   Lot of drops..   then he got hurt.

Since then..  he has played very well.

I just shake my head when RG3 and Russell Wilson have the #2 and #3 rushers on their team and are considered for rookie of the year over Luck who had attempted at least 50% more passes than either of them (627 for Luck, 393 for both RG3 and Wilson), and has 11 wins, 1 more than either of them.

I think with RG3 you have to look at the total package.  RG3 IS the reason that the Redskins have the best running game in the NFL.  Thats not to discredit Morris in any way because without RG3, I think he is at least a 1300 yard back, but not a 1600 yard back without RG3.

DId you see Demarcus Ware last night?  That guy had no clue, and that was because of RG3's ball skills and threat to run.  He doesnt have the same passing attempts as Luck, but when take into his overall impact on the Redskins offense, and the fact that he doesnt turn the ball over, it's not hard to see why he would win Rookie of the year.

27 total TD's and 7 Total turnovers.  Thats impressive.

I agree, Ware had no clue what to do. The play-calling and schemes are excellent. They cetainly play to your QB's skills. But his stats (which the vast majority of new Redskins posters continually harp on about) were below Lucks seasonal average, yet you still rave about him in this game? 50% completion rate, 0 TD's, 100 yards. If Luck had that sort of game you'd be slating him all day long. It's the winning that counts, and the Skins, Griffin and all, played a good game, to sneak by a very poor Cowboys team with a choker of a QB. This is not a knock on Griffin, but a flame on the inconsistent rating criteria the Skins trolls harp on about every day.

If you beat a very good Seahawk D next week, I will genuinely doft my cap. I think you will struggle, although I hope not, as one of my best friends is a big Skins fan, and I'm totally ambivilant re the Seahawks. And neither will reach the play-offs (he says with trepidation).

Our divisions are similar honestly as is our teams strength in it. The Texans = the Giants(SB talent yet can drop the ball just as easy), us = yall, titans = cowboys(The Titans are not a bad team by any means and they have beaten quality teams), jags = eagles. Ya'll won the division n congrats was watching that game last night while playing poker. Yet we were literally one blown coverage from winning our division ourselves(Other things could be factored in but the one simplest thing that swayed it was that loss to the jags).

But the thing is, RG3 doesnt have a lot of games like this.  As a matter of fact this was only his second game this year where he appeared "off" passing the ball.

But he made some HUGE runs during this game in key moments.  This is why RG3 is a special player.  They pretty much shut him down in the passing game, but he ran for 66 yards and a TD at 10 yards per carry on a 1 leg.

RG3 can get away with a bad game because:

1.  He can beat you multiple ways

2.  He doesnt have bad games often

But the star of the game was Alfred Morris, no doubt.  That guy is beastly.  But alot of credit goes to the scheme and the skins oline.  On 3 of the 4 TD runs, Morris nor Griffin was touched going into the endzone.

If not for the picks, luck would win it. He should win it anyway, but its a popularity contest and rg3 will win it because he's more popular. Even though he's not even the best rookie on the redskins IMO. And luck has been playing his best football the last 3 games, having no picks and playing very well. Rg3 on the other hand has not been impressive lately. Was he even at the game last night?

40 throws per game? I hoped for less... until I saw our o line run block. :(

Hitting 54% of thjem? I hoped for more until I saw our o line pass block. :(

Sadly I called it way before training camp even started that the guys we brought in on the OL would be awful (watched quite a few games of Satele, Mcglynn and Justice, although Justice has been slightly better then expected), Just a couple of bodies to hold us over till the offseason when we have cap room. I actually expect Justice to be back but not a starter

??  Gavin when all these guys have played "together" they have excelled.

I don't get this "I watched quite a few games" ?    really?  where?  An OL is organic, it is in constant flux.

How can you possibly say you "called it" ...       Called what?   constant injury problems?

This line is actually solid when they are ALL HEALTHY.     But, sadly we have yet to see it first hand this season.

The problem is that attempts/gm is the only statistical category where Luck holds a substantial lead over both of his competitors...

Luck had 289 yards/gm

RG had 267 yards/gm

Wilson had 225 yards/gm

Luck had 1.8 TDs/gm

Griffin had 1.8 TDs/gm

Wilson had 1.9 TDs/gm

Luck had 1.4 turnovers/gm

Griffin had 0.4 turnovers/gm

Wilson had 0.8 turnovers/gm

Luck completed 54% of his passes

Griffin completed 66% of his passes

Wilson completed 64% of his passes

... and those last two are why some don't believe he's on the same footing this season.  Now, it is true that Griff and Wilson have two of the best rushers in the NFL to help them out but I strongly urge you to look at Luck's receiver advantage.  Neither the Seahawks nor the Redskins have a single receiver who was as productive as Donnie Avery, your third most productive receiver.  Reggie Wayne alone was more productive than any two Redskins receivers combined.

Where'd you get your numbers? I take pass yds / 16 and I get -

Luck 273 /gm

RG3 200 /gm

RW 195 /gm

That's a full field length drive more per game, every game. since completion % is so much different, as you show, lets show yards per completion, see what kind of mileage is gained from each catch-

Luck 12.9

RG3 12.4

Rw 12.4

With Luck having many more completions than either of the other two.

Now let's look at 3rd and 4th down conversion rates-

Luck 98 229 42.8% 7 8 87.5%

RG3 68 190 35.8% 12 17 70.6%

RS 80 199 40.2% 11 18 61.1%

Seems I found some stats where Luck leads the other two in. Shall I look for more? Stats are just some numbers, can be gathered, juggled around and made to tell different stories. After all is said and done, who got the 'W', and ultimately, who holds the trophy is the true victor. not the stat champ... as wee (and Peyton) know all to well.
