Yes, replace Delone Carter with him as a short yardage back and add some red zone carries to that. For the right price, yes.
Not starter money but backup money.

Steven Jackson is still a quality starter, he'll get starter money somewhere. Plenty of teams with RB need.
I can see him being picked up GreenBay, they just have no one who is a capable starter.

I'd like to have a bruiser like Steven Jackson or Peyton Hillis in our running back rotation definitely. Hillis would probably be more ideal because he's younger. I don't see him as the starter, but definitely a battering ram we can bring in for a number of plays in short yardage. I'd probably take him over Delone Carter maybe. Hillis was a load to bring down in that Chiefs game. On that 4th and one where we stuffed Brady Quinn, I don't think we would have stopped them if they decided to run Hillis instead.
I like Hillis too, not sure when his contract is up with KC.

I checked a couple of weeks ago. I'm almost certain he'll be an unrestricted free agent next year.
Matter of fact I just checked. http://www.ramsrule....5,284188,284190
He'll be a UFA in 2013. I think he would be great in combination with Ballard, Brown, and maybe one more guy with some decent speed. Ballard, Brown, Hillis, and maybe one more scat back.
Hillis runs over Aubrayo Franklin

We'd get more use out of him than Delone Carter.

We need someone who is a legit power back, I'm sorry but Carter doesn't live up to that.

Sure he does, The problem is he does it without the ball, ya know, kinda like Hillis (13 fumbles in 592 carer carries)
Not sure what the percentage of that is however but seems like alot, Carter is signed through 2014 cheap anyway, Hillis would cost more and who knows how oten he would see the field with Ballard and Brown rotating

Sure, but I want a power back we can utilise on plays that aren't 3rd&1 or 3rd&Goal.
I've just never liked Delone Carter.

That would be Ballard. of course he needs to show he can hang onto the ball to, 3 fumbles but luckily none were lost

Almost all of Hillis fumbles happened in one season with Cleveland as the starter. He hasn't had more than 2 fumbles since that point. In his first 2 seasons in the league he didn't have any fumbles at all. I like him because he's power back, but he also brings another dimension as well because he's also a receiving threat. He had 61 receptions as a starter with Cleveland in 2010 and 22 last year

Agreed and it doesn't really make sense from his perspective either. He either
1) Wants big money that we probably won't offer or
2) Wants a team that will immediately compete for a championship and while I think we can compete, if I was Steven Jackson I'd rather go to the Pats or Packers.

I do feel sorry for Steven Jackson. He shows up to play every week for the Rams. A smart, tough, high character guy who probably will never win a ring. Too bad really. Would I want him? No. I believe in building teams through the draft not free agency per say. Stick with the RB's we have.
No need to upset the apple cart like PrincetonTiger said " too many miles on the tires." Always pay a player for their current production not what they have done in the past.
