Also I don't really watch too much college football( with me in the UK and time zones and all that) but if I hear about someone, I try to go online and watch highlights of them in matches.

I just Google it and see what comes up.  I like WalterFootball.  I read some of the ones on Bleacher Report, but those are just bloggers like you and me.  The more in-depth ones done by analysts done by guys like McShay, Kiper, Mayock, Charles Davis, etc. usually come around after the Super Bowl.

Levitre is in a Zone Blocking scheme in Buffalo and just based on the size of many of our O Linemen he wont be what Grigson is looking for, I like him but I like him more in a zone scheme

 

Powers is a waste of money, he likely could not beat out Butler for the Nickel job

 

Rather have Brandon Jenkins in round three, bigger and more explosive , can play standing up and with hand in the dirt, put up big numbers pre injury (injury is why I wait till the 3rd to get him)

 

Sylvester I bet gets drafted as a 4-3 DT

And to be honest about the GM business, blame madden for that ( it lured me into a false sense of security by allowing me to pick up players like Suh, Wallace and for me to have the ability to trade for Asomugha without really losing anything)

You're right about Levitre but that is why I put in the option of getting someone like Eben Britton as well.

 

Butler to me seems most inconsistent than Powers and really powers can be useful on zone plays.

 

I've seen a couple of videos of Jenkins and from them he hasn't been bad. I know for a fact you watch heck of a lot more college football than I do, But I just don't want to use a pick on him because sometimes I felt he couldn't  break of some blocks whereas with Chase Thomas, he was able to do so and get to the QB quite a few times. 

 

Sylvester looks like he could be an either or DT but in a couple of mocks, teams with 3-4 defenses seem to take him.

Its actually simple economics ( hope we have economists in the forum)based on consumer and producer surplus concepts, both wallace and the colts will have a limit to which they will accept. If demand for wallace goes down ( either due to asking price or his general performance)then the difference between he will actually get paid and the amount he wants will decrease,so with limited cap room from other teams could force wallace to change his mind.

If Pittsburgh is not working hard to retain him,  then why should we spend a fortune to get him?

 

Spending big bucks on a WR in this coming year doesn't strike me as a good spending of our money.     OL, DL,  pass rush,  big safety, another corner,  maybe even another RB.

 

But I don't think we need a big ticket WR this coming year. 

 

Maybe in 2014.    But i don't see the need for 2013.

There is no way they would give Freeney a 4 yr. contract, and they shouldn't. The guy has done virtually nothing this season and is a gigantic, ridiculous liability against the run. I don't think they have any intention at all to bring him back.

 

I don't think Powers will be back and don't think they want him back.

 

Wallace would never sign for that little of money and I have no idea how we "urgently" need a #1 reciever. We have good young recievers and there is absolutely no sense in spending a huge amount of money on another one. Makes no sense.

 

Asomugha has been terrible for 2 yrs. now, I know some say it's because of the scheme and maybe it is, but I wouldn't want to take the risk on an aging CB. Better and cheaper options.

Watching Porter tells me he could definitly fit in our system but not in the Dwight Freeney pass rush role, he seems to be better dropping back into short zones and chasing down in pursuit. He also seems to have a difficult time shedding blocks consistently. I think he fits the Robert Mathis/Jerry Hughes role

Andrew NEEDS a Very Good Running game VERY Badly for Play Action and better pass protection is a Desperate need.

Fixing the O-Line & Running game NOW has to be the #1 Priority.

Replacing Freeney with someone Solid, and adding another physical CB is the most important year two thing for the D.
Next IMO is finding a good Safety.
Coach P will get the secondary playing well, they just need experience together(TRUST) and SOME pass Rush.

All very good points...especially this one. Give Andrew Luck those tools with our existing WRs and he will torment defenses.

 

Grooming a replacement for Reggie can wait. And Mike Wallace....at his "Megatron" asking price....is out of the question. The Steelers offer to him was absolutely fair.

 

Anyway...I FAR prefer a precision passing game balanced with the solid rushing attack that we've been missing for years over the "fire drill" on every passing down that Wallace and his 4.3 speed flourished in....sort of....with Big Ben, whose absorbed his fair share of injuries behind that crappy Steelers O-line by the way.
