Texans are pretenders

I am not going as far as to say Texans are pretenders as they are a good team.  JJ Watt is a special player...the real deal.

However, the Colts can definitely take them on any given Sunday.  I would not be surprised if the outcome is different in 2 weeks.  The seperation between the two teams is not a great as I initially believed going into today's game.  I am encouraged to be this close to them in just year one of the Luck era.

Fair enough.   I'd like to believe that if those "harder" games were at the end, instead of the beginning,  their record would even be better.   Who knows.   I do think they deserve to be considered one of the hottest teams out there right now,  on a 9 game winning streak.  ;)

They do deserve it and they are considered it. I am not sure what the big deal is? I don't even call them pretenders either..I got them in my top group for the postseason with both conferences combined.

But, Denver really isn't a huge concern of mine at the moment unless we play them....

If we get in it looks more like we head to the slop in Baltimore. Now THAT was a jab. Come at me Ravens fans!

we did not give them that game. we lost because of andrew lucks accuracy and decision making, and some of the worse pass blocking ive ever seen by mike mcglynn, anthony castonzo, joe reitz and jeff linkenbach, mcglynn im hoping is not starting for us next year. Our secondary is horrible, vontae davis continues to be a dissapointment after wasting a 2nd round pick. And i know our offensive line is bad, but luck made some veryyyy poor throws and decsions.

Todays game was a loss to a team that is supposed to be the BEST in the AFC and was taken apart by the Pats and then are the best again just barely winning against an almost new team full of rookies and first year on the team players. Taking apart a terrible o-line and being manhandled by the Pats o-line is not a good sign for your Texans D if you play them again!

Colts shot themselves in the foot a lot of times, fumble by M.Moore, TD taken away from a penalty, 2 more times M.Moore on special team pins colts back by penalties, yes they needed Moore to replace Cater and Houghs who were injured, but he did cost a lot with his mistakes, and adding the blocked punt is another fluke that kills also, Texans didn't kick butt, if they meet the Pats again even in H.Texas I predict a Texans loss, Texan fans you better be nervous and also nervous about next year against the Colts, you may think after the loss of Peyton on the Colts would give you the division for the next decade????? Think again..

I'm still confused as to why you post here. I don't mind it, you are an okay poster in my book, I just don't get why you would have any interest on a Colts forum. Just a curiosity of mine no ill-will intended. And the Texans fans on the forum need to be quiet, If someone grabbed a cup of coffee they could've missed them being relevant. You should be glad you won be jeez get over yourselves, go celebrate on the Texans forum, or wherever you celebrate,

I've always enjoyed talking to opposing fans and getting a different perspective on the league.  At this point, I know exactly what to expect out of most Skins fans, so it can be kind of boring to deal with them.  As for why I'm on this particular board... our teams seem to have had a lot in common recently and this is a relatively solid forum compared to many out there (seriously, look at the Browns or Panthers boards if you want an example of just how bad it can get), so it was easy to get sucked in.

It's also fair to say that the biases of my own fanbase tend to annoy me more than that of opposing fans. ;)

Putting down the Texans after they beat us today, makes us look like whiners, IMO. They beat us, won the division, and are the better team at this time.

In my world, you never try to elevate yourself by putting others down. It just defies class and and undermines your own pride in your team.

Take a hike QwizBoy. You are the biggest troll on this forum. Congratulations on your 12-2* record. Schwartz handed you a win and so did Chad Henne. I cannot wait to see Peyton Manning DESTROY Houston in the playoffs. And if he doesn't do it, Tom Brady sure will.

What you are seeing here is a hiatus between times when Colts are AFC South Champs.  I believe that this is what the op was trying to say.

Texans are good, yes.  Schaub is aging and Luck will improve with time and an O-Line.  Running game is starting to come together.

Defense is working and will improve wih new personnel and perhaps a coaching change at DB.

It's fun for the Texans to pretend that they are elite.  That's ok.  In my humble opinion, I really don't see them as an NFL team yet.  I know that they are as they play in the NFL but when I think football, I don't think Houston Texans.  I think Colts, Pats, Packers, Giants.  Texans are like the Jags and Panthers to me.  Is that what you meant, OP?

QuizBoy is not a troll.  He is a good poster who makes good knowledgeable posts, and usually is very gracious.   He is sticking up for his team, who was getting slammed by some of our posters,  which is ridiculous, after they just beat us.

Another thing, He admits when he is wrong, which is more than I can say for a lot of posters on here.

I get the same feeling, no disrespect for those teams. I just haven't gotten over expansion yet :)

Now the Houston Oilers is another matter........ :)

Some like to read opposing views while some don't dare stray from the mantra of the flock. To each his/her own. I'll usually visit various forums late in the week, but I don't post on them. It is usually a source for information not seen in the national or even local media, because most teams have some fans that are a bit smarter the average Kravitz.

I agree we should have won the game today!   5 FGs at home, a fumble by a guy who shouldnt have been put back on the team, and some horrble punt protection!    IMO we didn't play very well either, but we still could have and should have won that game if not for a few stupid mistakes, including the bone headed foul on Arians that cost us a FG!

I am only going to say this once....but I GUARANTEE we beat them in week 17! I will bet $100 on it, and if we lose I will donate it to leukemia research. I will post a picture of the check and receipt if needed. This Houston team is good, not great. The Colts had plenty of chances to win today, and did themselves in with the aforementioned turnovers/blocked punt. Week 17, playoffs possibly on the line/seeding at the least, and CHUCK back on the sidelines. It will be a madhouse, and I fully expect the Colts to win. They showed today the can hang with one of the "best" teams in the NFL. It wasn't a beatdown by any stretch. A few bad calls the other way, Moore not fumbling, Allen not whiffing the punt block, etc...But scoreboard is scoreboard. We lost. This Texans team should have dominated the Colts (on paper), but didn't. This rag-tag team doesn't quit. And if you think for one second they won't play lights out for their coach on Dec. 30th, you are dead wrong.

So, Qwiztroll, enjoy it. And stop acting like you aren't a troll. We all recognize your passive-aggressive responses, slight jabs, defensiveness when anyone calls you out. Get off our board. Go have fun on the Texans' board. And get ready for a thumping Dec. 30th!!!

They wouldn't beat the Broncos now...

I wouldnt say that. I'd call the bet even, in football terms.

Although apparently Texans are weak in parts of secondary...and well PM just isn't very nice to weak secondarys:)

Even NE knows that ;)

In this case, I have to disagree with you...the Texans are a very good team, and when they played the Broncos, it was when Peyton and the team were still learning each other, in a new system. Regardless, Houston won that game, but that is not where I'm basing my opinion. I basing it due to the fact that Denver, on all sides of the ball keeps getting better each week, while Houston, (while still winning games), seems to be struggling a lot more than they did early in the year. Peyton is firing on all cylinders, and even if he's lost a little in arm strength, no one is better than he is mentally, and he still can pick apart a defense..

Could it, or would it, be a close game now..perhaps, but right now, the way the Broncos and Pats are playing..it looks like those are the top two contenders for the AFC crown. We may see this game again in the playoffs..Its a game I'm definitely not going to miss.

If they would play right now, I'd say Broncos (-7) over Houston...no matter where the game is..

Again, its only my opinion...that's why they play the game...

gotcha..I admit I haven't seen much of Denvers defense but I've seen enough to see PM is on target and making plays.

If we thought or think the Texans are pretenders we should have whipped their behinds today.  The problem is it didn't happen.  We did too many things to prove that we couldn't finish the deal.  There was plenty I saw that was encouraging, but the things I saw that were not encouraging cost us the game.  They had confidence they could beat us and they did it.  We had confidence we could beat them and we did not do it.  As far as today's game is concerned, we were the pretenders, and they were the contenders.

I think we showed them they were not miles ahead of us, but that's only a band aid on our wounds.  I think we should be upset with ourselves that we let a so called Pretender walk away with a win.  Let's get better, get this win in K.C., and do it right in Lucas Oil the second time around.  They won today, I'll give them their credit for now.

No problem bro. I know lot of people were probably heated earlier, football is an emotional game. My bad if my initial comments came across as condescending or spiteful in any way, was definitely not intended.
