On this day I lost my mother in her battle with COPD. I also lost my best friend. I told a lot of my closest Colts friends, and did not wish to make a big deal of it. She is in a better place, and I am glad to have said "I love you Mom every day" :) Live every day with loved ones like there is no tomorrow!!!

What does this have to do with Colts football? She loved the Colts and Butler basketball.....and the way the team fights till the end. She thought Chuck Pagano was the toughest guy on earth....these two Colts videos from today made my tears go to smiles and back to tears again......

GO COLTS! GO CHUCK!!

So sorry Brent. I too lost my mother and best friend in October and she also loved the Colts. The fun we had together watching the games and talking about our favorite players bring back special memories. The phone call when I could not be there during a game of "did you see that?!"

The Colts hold to the premise that they are a family. They became a part of mine in the memories they bring.

"Jesus stood and spoke the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion - to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor."

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. It is not an easy thing to lose any loved one, but from my experience of losing both my in laws and trying to be there for my wife and her family, the passing of a parent has felt to me like losing an anchor during a storm. It may take a while to feel like you have control again.

I know my own mother is getting up there in age, and no one lives forever, but I just can't imagine how hard it would be for me to lose her... I'm an admitted mamma's boy, tho.

I wish you strength and courage, my friend.

Just a little over a month since Mom passed, and I just came back to read all of the nice responses.  Thanks guys!  I still find myself looking at the clock at certain times of the day Mom and I would talk.  I knew it would be hard, but........

I miss you Mom!!!  :)

Brother I do understand what your going thru, although I still have my parents,Ive lost some of the mainstays of my life ,my Papaw{Grandfather],and my best freind Jeff Ward. Both of these were very close, could talk to them about anything,I still catch myself thinking at times ,its about time for Jeff to show up at the door, because he was like that you never knew when he would show up.Bottom line is you never stop missing them, because they are in your heart, but with Gods help the pain of losing them fades away.Ya know i love my Brother

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss :(  I know what you're going thru, both of my parents are now gone, and it's hard.  But I know they are happy and together again after 57 years of marriage here on earth.  May God bless you and your family !!!

Today is March 10.  Hey it is my nephew's birthday!  He just got a nice internship in North Dakota!!  Great job buddy.  SOOOOO proud of you!  I would rather go there as LA too....just my small town roots :)

Today also would have been Mom's 80th birthday!  She would have gotten up at 6 AM (Knowing her she would have forgotten the time change and gotten up at 5 :))  She would have gotten herself and my 91 yr-old Pops up...and ready for their day which ALWAYs started out with an awesome breakfast at their former assisted living.... Sundays were the best!!!!!

Mom would have more than likely had her 'usual,' but her favorite was always sausage biscuits and gravy with coffee hot and black!

I too wish that I was up at the crack of dawn going to see Mom.  Every day continues to be a struggle when I look down at my watch to see what time I should be calling to check up!  10:15 AM.....2 PM and 3:30 PM.  We talked about what to eat, I made sure they were taking meds....following up on Pops' diabetes...sugar.

I wish we could have gone out today, and Mom could have had one of her favorite desserts...pecan pie or Strawberry Pie. Gray's Bros. was her favorite.  This would have been a great day too because her Butler Bulldogs won, IU plays, NASCAR at Las Vegas, and the Pacers/Heat.....not to mention COLTS!   :coltslogo:  :coltslogo:  :coltslogo:

I want to thank my many friends on this site for helping me through the death of my best friend!  While the pain will never end due to the closeness that we shared, each day comes and goes with the memories we still have.  I do wish she could have met my step daughters and sons.  She was in too bad of shape at Thanksgiving, and only got to meet my 16 yr-old at the time!

Mom knew I wanted to have kids, and I know she is looking down and helping me be the best dad I can be...and best husband to Denene...my gorgeous wife!!  Thanks everyone for the encouragement and support.  The old linebacker appreciates you!!!  I miss you Mom....Happy Birthday!!!  Love Brent  :)
