Broncos need bye week

...I got the feeling they were a little tired. Obviously, the Thursday njght game was a reason but
......when they come back at Baltimore....they need to play and win six weeks in a row to get to the Super Bowl.
and that didnt look like a team that could do that.....
////But if they win the next 3 (handing balt a 4th loss) and if Houston or SF defeats
New England..Denver is the No, 2 seed and gets a weekend off Jan 6-7..
Can the Bronco team you saw Thursday reach the Super Bowl without the bye week?

Looking at how their schedule has been this year (as far as quality of opponent), I would really like to see how things play out in the playoffs.Watching Denver's 26-14 win at Oakland where they turned TDs into field goals most of the night

Big Ben is the only one that has done it the last 10 years in the AFC and made it to the SB because the Steelers' D travels well on the road. Sanchez and the Jets came real close in 2009 and 2010 falling short in the AFCCG.
In our SB winning year, even though Peyton and the Colts were seeded No.3, the Pats (#4) did a favor to the Colts by taking out the Chargers (#1) that the Colts did not match up well against. It is not like we matched up great vs the Pats but we matched up worse vs the Chargers. So, we hosted the AFCCG in the RCA dome.
So, both the Broncos and Pats know how important it is. It is obviously 1 less game to play at playoff intensity when everyone is banged up during this time of the season.

Here is a small tidbit, neither Peyton nor Brady have reached the SB by winning 2 road games in the AFC.

True.......but that's not because of the Steelers ...its because Indy and NE were always division winners...and they played at home..
....10 time in 15 years..Indy and New England never had the opportunity to win 2 road playoff games, right?
But it is true..

That's insanity...
NFL players badly need by weeks late in the year..
When wild card teams win the Super Bowl, its somewhat of a freak event.....I believe home teams win 60-65% of playoff games

Not true.
Indy in 2003 beat the Chiefs on the road and lost to the Pats in the AFCCG on the road.
Pats in 2006 beat the Chargers on the road and lost to Indy in the AFCCG on the road.
Chargers in 2007 beat the Colts on the road and lost to the Pats in the AFCCG on the road.
Jets did it twice on the road in the playoffs in 2009 & 2010, unfortunately it was too much of a task asking them to win 3, lost in the AFCCG to Colts in 2009 & Steelers in 2010 on the road.
Ravens did it twice in the 2008 playoffs winning at Miami and Tennessee, unfortunately it was too much of a task asking them to win 3, lost to Steelers in the AFCCG in 2008 on the road.
Top 2 seeds still statistically gives the best chance to get to the SB from the AFC. It is skewed by the fact that the Pats have had a top 2 seeding in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2011 and made it to the SB 5 out of those 6 times and their HFA is probably the best in the AFC. Other top 2 seeds making it to the SB include Raiders in 2002, Steelers in 2008 and 2010 and the Colts in 2009.
- SO, 9 OUT OF 11 YEARS (2001-2011), A TOP 2 SEED IN THE AFC MADE IT TO THE SB. 2005 (Steelers at #6) AND 2006 (Colts at #3) ARE THE ONLY EXCEPTIONS.
- OUT OF THOSE 9 TIMES, IT HAS BEEN THE #1 SEED 5 TIMES (PATS 3 TIMES, COLTS ONCE AND RAIDERS ONCE) and THE #2 SEED 4 TIMES (PATS 2 TIMES, STEELERS 2 TIMES)

I misspkopke..they RARELY have the opportunity.
The fact that Pitt has won more road playoff games in the same year only speaks to the fact that they've had more chances
It says nothing about the Colts or Pitt or The Pats. Its not a trend..Its circumstance...
Obvioulsy if you dont win your division 10 tmes in 15 years..you play on the road in the post-season's first round more often that teams that do. right>?.

See my post above, the numbers speak for themselves in favor of the bye week.
Pitt. and Big Ben managed to win twice on the road (actually three times) only 1 freaking time, in 2005. They had the OPPORTUNITY only once, just like Peyton and Brady. Steelers took care of it, Peyton and Brady did not. To me, the sample is so small but all I can say is D oriented teams travel well on the road in the playoffs and are normally good for 1 road win, if not two. Three is RARE.
Actually, the ones who have had to go on the road the most have been the Ravens and Jets. No wonder we dont have a SB appearance from either of them, close but no cigar.
