Next Season

Hi fellow Indy fans,

I know it's a little premature but what do you guys think we should do with the 40 million the Colts front office has to spend this offseason?

I'm thinking definitely Jake Long and Mike Wallace. That would make a formidable offensive line duo with Long and Costanzo. That would also make a great 1-2 WR punch with Wallace and Wayne. Wallace hasn't lived up to his potential and with Wayne mentoring him he could finally become a true top wideout. With a great young TE tandem and those 2 WR's, along with an improved O-line we'd be set for years to come. We'd also draft O-line to further improve there which is needed greatly.
So what to do with the defense? How can they improve it through free agency. Any ideas?

I wouldn't spend so much of the dough on just 2 players if I were the F.O... I would be looking for slightly better value for a young O-lineman such as Louis Vasquez, Brandon Albert, or Jermon Bushrod...

I'd like to get a corner like Kennan Lewis or Mike Jenkins to play opposite Vontae.

WR is not a huge need for us next year IMO, but if we feel like we have to have Reggie's replacement on the roster immediately, I suppose Wallace is probably the guy... maybe Bowe from KC

I would really like to sign a top notch Safety in FA as well, someone like Dashon Goldson or the Byrd Man...

If we can grab some guys that aren't in the top 5 at their positions, but are young and productive, we will get more bang for our FA buck.

Yes that is very true but at the same time you don't want to take chances on young players who might or might not pan out in the foreseeable future. With Long and/or Wallce or Bowe you know for sure that they'll produce barring some injury or severe attitude problem. Getting young guys would be great on top of that but first you need some building blocks that will for sure make them a top tier team either next year or the year after. Once we can get a serviceable O-line where Luck isn't running for his life every plays, one solid corner, and maybe one more solid linebacker I think we're set. Also, our defense has been playing worse than they will play. Pagano is a great defensive coach and I can't wait to see the D in the next couple weeks with him back at the helm.

Man, we have 47 millin cap. i dont see us NOT getting Wallace since he is so used to, and good friends with B.A. he's a heck of a burner and from what i've heard he is kind of a mirror image of Avery, because they both have moments of dropped passes, theyre both burners. i think we should definantly sign Avery though. hes put in his time and paid his dues and really wants to be a colt. can you imagine a 4 wide reciever set: Wayne,Avery, Hilton, and Wallace?! And Luck to throw to them?! that would horrify any defensive backfield the NFL has to offer!!! furthermore, we need a RT and i think Sebastian Vollmer is an ideal candidate. if only we could pull DeCastro from the steelers. jus dreamin'. definantly wouldnt sign Freeney. sorry to say but if we can let payton run then 'thats life'. what do you guys think about Cliff Avril? he used to be a linebacker in college and he would really spell Mathis. he can cover and he can really move east and west with a quickness. and CB? JENKINS. Butler definantly needs resigning and Davis, Butler, and, Jenkins would be a great nickel tandem. Draft picks: Offensive Line, Barrett Jones. should be available with first pick. plenty of pass rushers in FA. oh, and what do ya think of David Amerson?
