A look back (and ahead) WR's/TE's

WR- Reggie, who has been consistently productive over his entire career, took his game to another level, Avery had a productive season, Hilton surprised (me) I was expecting more of a role player, Collie, just can't shake the injury bug, Brazill had some nice catches

next year: At some point Reggie will slow down (33) he currently ranks #10 all-time in receptions and #14, in yards and should end up next year around 7th, in each category, Hilton was the most productive rookie WR in the league and hasn't come close to reaching his potential, take away the 2 games (1-15) he would have hit the 1,000 yd mark, Brazill should get more reps and has similar abilities to Hilton, Avery and Collie are both free agents, as with any player, there has to be a cost vs production factor vs need, Collie, if healthy can be one of the most productive WR's in the league, that's a big if, a couple of players who looked good in brief appearances are Whalen and Adams, don't see this unit as an area of need

TE- both Fleener and Allen played well, Saunders filled in at times

next year- Fleener and Allen, like many of the first year players, should really take it up a notch next season, they should become quite a force in the upcoming years, the Colts seem to like Saunders upside and Jones fits into the equation, another unit that really isn't an area of need

Since this blog, we have a new OC, and have lost Adams to the NY Jets. I feel everything still applies!

With Pep Hamilton installing a WCO (or variation thereof) we will see Allen and Fleener involved even more....and Hilton as well.

You're right about the reciever's. But they really need a big WR. Along the lines of a Larry Fitzgerald. Luck needs a big wideout target. I love the recievers we have but they are to small for every down use. So many times when Avery and Hilton took a big hit the ball would come loose. Luck threw high on alot of passes this year, a big target (6'3" or 6'4") would help him. Look at most of the superstar wideouts, they are big and fast ... a few more pieces and they'll be there.

I am of the mindset that speed trumps size, most of the time, which is why I never had a problem with the smaller athletic defense of the past, I know all about the we big-we bad mindset. I don't really think it matters, as long as it produces victories........it's really not the norm, to find guys who are big and fast, unless you have a top 10 pick, those guys don't come around too often, but they are game changers

I agree there is no substitute for speed. While I would like a game-changing big wide out, we get the same benefit if we get the TEs more involved. With the Athleticism and size of Allen and Fleener, LBs need to have the same fear as those who face Hernandez and Gronk.....minus his boo boo

There were 88 incomplete passes thrown Reggies way and no doubt the overtargeting by Andrew resulted in many interceptions.
I don`t think Reggie played at a New Level by any means, but of course he did have ample opportunity to show he still has great hands. He did have 8 drops, one more than Avery.

Big strong WR`s can use their bodies to screen and out muscle CB`s.
Love to get one in the system ASAP.
Especially if Andrew continues to throw a little late and behind his receivers so often, as this frequently causes contested receptions.

We are in great shape at TE. I can see Fleenor split wide some.

Reggie finished with his 2nd highest reception and yardage total's, but it wasn't the numbers I was referring to, he just seemed to really give it that "extra" effort, like he was really trying to prove something
