Roster Moves – Colts sign RB Daniel “Boom” Herron; OLB Andy Studebaker
The Indianapolis Colts today signed running back Daniel “Boom” Herron from the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad and free agent outside linebacker Andy Studebaker to the 53-man active roster.
Herron, 5-10, 212 pounds, has appeared in three career games with the Bengals after being selected by the team in the sixth round (191st overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. In 2012, he recorded a blocked punt, four special teams tackles and four rushes for five yards. Prior to the NFL, Herron played four seasons (2008-2011) at Ohio State University where he totaled 592 rushing attempts for 2,869 yards and 32 touchdowns as well as 44 receptions for 309 yards and a touchdown.
Studebaker, 6-3, 248 pounds, has appeared in 70 career games (eight starts) all with the Kansas City Chiefs (2008-2012) and has registered 51 tackles (40 solo), five passes defensed, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. He has also compiled 45 special teams tackles. He was released by the Chiefs on April 1, 2013. In 2010, he played in all 16 games and set career highs in tackles (18) and sacks (2.5). In his first career start against Pittsburgh (11/22/09), he posted two interceptions, including one returned for 94 yards.
